Chocolate Swirl Sourdough, French macarons, buttery cronuts, peanut butter brownies, Easter "nest" cookies, chocolate or lemon tarts, Chocolate Cream Pie, bake and serve meals for ready entertaining and ice cream sandwiches from our colab with !

🟡 Chebireki – Crispy turnovers filled with seasoned pork or cabbage & herbs, served with sour cream and our Caesar Salad or your choice of sides.

🟡 Deep-Fried Perogies – Now, choose 4 perogies instead of salad, soup or fries with any sandwich combo. Or, enjoy a perogy platter to share! Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, served with sour cream.

Perogies will also be available on our catering order, boiled to perfection and tossed with butter and onions. Be sure to ask about our catering services for your next group meal, memorial, graduation gathering, wedding or other celebration!

When you choose to shop local or dine out at an independent business, one of the greatest benefits is knowing exactly who you’re supporting — real people in your own community, doing their best to create something meaningful.

We recently realized that we’ve now crossed over 20,000 followers across social media (wow — thank you!), and it occurred to us that some of you might not actually know who we are.

So... here we are!

Well, not exactly — we’re not puppets (though we think these versions are pretty fun!). But we thought this would be a playful way to reintroduce ourselves and share a little backstory.

Angie is the namesake and founder of Chez Angela. Back in 2017, she opened the bakery with a vision of creating a small neighbourhood spot — maybe two or three part-timers, and one or two full-timers down the road. But as a Business Admin graduate from Brandon University and a proud graduate with Honours from the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts, she brought both heart and hustle — and that little dream has grown into something far bigger.

I’m James, and I officially joined full-time in November 2022 after a 25-year career in the world of computer science. But our story goes back much further than that — all the way to 1994, when we met at 16 years old.

We started dating that summer and never looked back. Together we’ve travelled, gotten married, bought a house, had some kids, moved across the country and back again — and through it all, we kept dreaming and building. We’ve always shared a deep love of food, often stopping mid-walk or mid-conversation to chat about flavours and dishes we’d love to make together. Many of those daydreams ended up on our menu.

Growing up in Brandon, downtown was a big part of our lives — bowling alleys, toy stores, chocolatiers, restaurants, and cafés. We were there for parades, photos with Santa, and all the festivals and events that brought people together. In many ways, Chez Angela feels like a love letter to those memories.

Over the years, we’ve experienced our share of struggle and loss, but also incredible support and growth — and through it all, we’ve given each other space to dream, create, and pursue what we’re passionate about.

Now, as we approach our 25th wedding anniversary, we get to live and work together every day — and we couldn’t be more grateful for this life we’ve built. But we’re only two of the more than 25 people who make Chez Angela possible.

We are surrounded by a phenomenal team — from our sous chefs and front-of-house leads to our bakers, cooks, and baristas. They share our values: from-scratch baking, a local-first approach, and genuine hospitality. We also have a group of investors who believed in us and helped us grow through the tail end of the pandemic, and we’re endlessly thankful for their trust and support.

Serving our community is a privilege. Whether you stop in daily, swing by once a month, or follow us from afar, thank you for being a part of this journey. You’re helping us write the story of great baking in Westman — and we’re so happy you’re here.

BU Bones are a trombone trio comprising Kurtis Johnson, , and Cade Zacharias and we are thrilled to have them play at the cafe tonight at this Free Music Friday!

The trombone has long been known as the greatest instrument in all of western classical music history, at least according to trombonists. 😜

Famed composer, Hector Berlioz, called the trombone “the true head of the family of wind instruments,” claiming that masters of the instrument “can chant like a choir of priests, threaten, utter gloomy sighs, a mournful lament, or a bright hymn of glory; they can break forth into awe-inspiring cries and awaken the dead or doom the living with their fearful voices.”

THIS is Downtown Brandon on a Friday night. So far we've hosted 42 cross-cultural nights. That's 42 performances from local, national and international artists paired with world cuisine. Over 312 original dishes on special menus. If you thought you knew a night out in Brandon, it's time to change your expectations.

After Hours X: Downtown Mixtape IV is the 43rd culinary concert that we'll be presenting here at Chez Angela. Our culinary team puts together an incredible menu, delectable from start to finish.

Our good friend Graydon Creamer curates the playlist full of musicians with experience spanning the globe.

We transform our little café into a fine-dining establishment for the evening where you get to come and taste the Chef's Menu while experiencing world-class music.

What is the experience like? You might share a table with strangers who become friends. You might sit up close to the band, like you'd take part in at a jazz club in a big city. You'll have table service with course after course of multi-component menu items that will satiate your taste of adventure. Wine, cocktail and mocktail pairings are available along with house wines, chef's reserve wines and locally crafted beers from .

The Story of Great Baking in Westman

Fresh-baked goods made by hand with locally-sourced ingredients. We believe that is how a great story goes. And we do this with artisan breads, pies, tarts, cheesecakes, delicious treats, cookies, cakes and more. We start each batch of every item we make by scaling out quality ingredients.

Savory items and delectable desserts are what we do. We are a small bakery that’s creating local jobs and happily supporting local growers and producers whenever possible, so that they, too can help grow our local economy.

We use fresh, raw ingredients and make no sacrifices in our selection. You can taste the difference in the chocolate we use, the buttercream icing we make, or in our all-butter crusts for pies, tarts and quiches. You can see the passion we put into every layer of pastry dough and butter that we roll and fold, roll and fold over and over again to make the best croissants, pain au chocolat, danishes and other treats in Westman.

We do our best to package our goods in environmentally sustainable ways. Whenever possible we use unbleached, non-painted and compostable bags, boxes and wraps.
