Winter Solstice! I have always loved this day. I’m a bit of an introvert. I love people, but stillness and “hibernating” restores me when I’m feeling a little worn thin. Something about the longest night of the year reminds me to rest a bit, and catch up on cozy things. Dark winter night skies are magical too. The stars are always at their finest, in the black cold of winter. I still remember riding behind my Dad on the skidoo one cold December night, over to our pasture. The sky was like a piece of black velvet, and the stars were so bright. I’m hopeful we can glimpse the Christmas star tonight. The forecast is calling for snow soon, but I have my fingers crossed that the clouds stay away to let us see this shy, cosmic occurrence!
It’s been a remarkable year, in so many ways. I hope the challenges we have faced will serve us well, instilling in us and reminding us that life is precious, and hard things can create the most beautiful, vibrant threads that run through the tapestry that is our life.
I’m so grateful for my friends, both old and new, that have supported Prairie Girl’s this year. Some plans had to sit on the shelf this season, while we navigated this virus, a fiery harvest on the farm, a high school graduation, my hubby’s surgery, and other “farmy” things. So fall intentions of new fashion announcements, seasonal arrangements on the flower side, etc, are impatiently waiting...😂.
I pray this Christmas season brings you the blessings that can be found in still, small places. And that we all have the patience to let love lead into 2021. ❤️
