With only a few more busy catering weekends left on the calendar for the 2026 season, let’s take a look back at some of the events that kept our crews busy this summer! 👌🏼

To start, we’re heading back to one of our favourite venues - The Rustic Wedding Barn in La Broquerie, Manitoba. 🥰

Blue Haze BBCrew members Sam and Dayana made the trip to La Broquerie in mid-July for a 100-person wedding at The Rustic Wedding Barn! It may have been one of the hottest days our crews faced this summer 🥵, but that didn’t stop them from making sure everyone enjoyed not only a great meal, but a great time too! 🔥

While the summer catering season may be winding down sooner than we’d like, don’t stress - we’re not done yet! We still have plenty of weekday and weekend availability throughout the fall and winter months. 🍂❄️

A couple weeks ago, we hit pause on the chaos of catering season and took some time to celebrate some of the incredible people who have been part of the Blue Haze BBCrew for years. ❤️

We treated some of our long-term crew members to an evening out with Voyageur Houseboats in Pinawa, cruising the beautiful waters of Whiteshell Provincial Park. We enjoyed some amazing eats from Sharecuterie | Artisanal Charcuterie & Cocktail Café, took in some sweet sunset views, and most importantly - got to kick our feet up and spend some time together off the clock.

We don’t get many opportunities like this during the busy season to slow down and appreciate the people who keep Blue Haze rolling, so this night was a pretty special one.

This year, our staff are celebrating how many years with Blue Haze:

Sam - 9 years: One of our OG catering servers! Sam has been part of the Blue Haze family through a LOT of seasons. ❤️

Jordan - 7 years: Jordan has pretty much done it all - restaurant, catering, food truck - and somehow ended up as our self-taught catering cook AND social media princess.

Colene - 7 years: She started with us back in our restaurant days before making the move to catering, where she’s been an important part of the crew ever since!

Crystal - 5 years: What started as a fun little summer side gig turned into Crystal becoming one of our main catering delivery gals! We definitely got more than we bargained for - in the best way. ❤️

Jacqui - 5 years: An honourable mention because she was supposed to join us for the cruise, but was still recovering at home from recent surgery. You were definitely missed Jacqui! 🥰

Gabi - 4 years: Once upon a time, she was the baby of the Blue Haze BBCrew. 🥹 Now she’s grown into one of our well-known and much-loved catering servers. We couldn’t be prouder of how much she’s grown over the years!

That’s 37 years of combined Blue Haze dedication represented right there.

To the crew who showed up, worked hard, learned new things, took on new roles, and kept coming back year after year - thank you! Blue Haze wouldn’t be what it is without you. 🫶🏼

Here’s to many more years, many more events, and hopefully a few more nights where we get to enjoy the view instead of worrying about catering timelines. 😂

Before we head into another busy weekend - let’s do a recap of last weekend, our busiest weekend this summer yet! 💪🏼

Your Blue Haze BBCrew had SEVEN catering events in the books.
TWO on-site buffets.
FIVE deliveries.

Over 200lbs of Texas Beef Brisket served (that smoker was sure smelling good 😉).

While our catering crew took care of business at the shop - our food truck crew was parked at The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg.

Three long (and VERY hot 🥵) days.
Many Costco runs made for more supplies.
One broken down prep cooler that needed replacing midway through the weekend.
And let’s not forget the most important part - over 700 sandwiches served. 🙌🏼

There were many early mornings, and just as many long nights. Your Blue Haze BBCrew travelled many miles - from East Selkirk to Winnipeg, Lac du Bonnet to River Hills, La Broquerie to Birds Hill Park too!

All the hard work was worth it though when we were able to watch Matt Rife do what he does best live on Sunday night. 😉

And just like that - we’re ready to go again this weekend!

Our Blue Haze catering crew will be heading out to Oakbank, Nutimik Lake, Winnipeg, Matlock, Cooks Creek and East Selkirk, while our food truck will be hitting the road tomorrow morning to set up for the weekend in ALTONA, MANITOBA. ✌🏼

Matt Rife might be bringing the laughs to Winnipeg… but we’re bringing the brisket. 🔥

You’d think SEVEN catering events would be enough to keep us busy this weekend… but around here, we don’t really know how to slow down. 💪🏼

Whether you’re coming for the laughs, or maybe catching a glimpse of the Matt Rife in person, make sure to stop by for some brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and all your Blue Haze favourites before the show. We can’t promise we’ll be funnier than the comedians… but we can promise the BBQ will be smokin’. ✌🏼

Happy Birthday to one of our amazing Blue Haze BBCrew members, Crystal! 🥳

For the past few years, Crystal has been an essential part of the Blue Haze crew - from helping train our newest catering crew members, to making sure every event gets where it needs to go safely, and proving to all of us that a good crime audiobook can make any drive a little more entertaining. 😂

If you’ve seen a catering event run smoothly, there’s a good chance Crystal had a hand in making it happen! ✌🏼
