One of the things I love most about being a wedding DJ is listening to the speeches.

Beyond the stories, laughs and heartfelt moments, speeches often reveal little pieces of a couple’s history, including the songs that were part of their lives. Maybe it was a song they sang along to as kids, something that was always played at family parties, or a song connected to an important memory.

By paying attention, we can uncover those hidden gems and bring them back later in the evening, often to the surprise and delight of the couple and their guests.

Last night at the Idylwylde, Matt gave us a perfect example, breaking into a full performance of “Something More” by Ryan Malcolm, the winner of the first season of Canadian Idol in 2003, in which his dad brought up was on of his favourite songs as a kid during his speech.

This is just one example of why our services are about more than simply pressing play on a playlist.

We work closely with each couple, listen to their stories and plans, and pay attention to the little details throughout the day so we can help bring their entire wedding experience together, from the ceremony and announcements to the special moments, dinner and dance floor.

The rain may have been a factor, but it certainly didn’t dampen the celebrations!

A beautiful ceremony followed by great food from Chef Mark, fantastic service from Jessica and the Idylwylde team, heartfelt and hilarious speeches, personalized special dances, and an incredible night of dancing!

It was also extra special to be back with this family after having the honour of DJing the bride’s sister’s wedding a few years ago. Once again, this family did not disappoint!
