Food In Motion started catering events within the church community in Richmond Hill. A once home based operation has grown into a full service catering company that spreads its services from Toronto to Barrie, Hamilton to Oshawa. After ea

rning a Bachelor degree in the United States, FIMs Founder John Cosentino went on to play baseball in Italy in 2003. It was there where he came to the realization that fresh and local ingredients would be the tools of his career trade. He immediately returned to Toronto and enrolled in George Brown Culinary School for a 2 year apprenticeship program. While enrolled, he carried out a number of stages, predominately at York Regions prestigious Copper Creek Golf Club and Banquet Facility under his mentor Gianpiero Tondina C.C.C. In 2008, John went abroad, back to his family roots and travelled north eastern Italy, studying under world recognized chefs Giancarlo Perbellini and Valentino Marcattilii, and in some of the most well recognized food establishments in the country.

“No matter where I would be in the world I was always trying to learn the basics of the regions cuisine. What few ingredients created that flavour profile to made that regions dish differ from others? And in my family and amongst our family friends, where I learned the most, the TRADITION was created from Nonna Ida and my lovely mother Rose.”

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a fellow member of our local restaurant community, Sam Saberi.

In an industry that demands everything from you, he showed what it means to truly hustle, adapt, and show up—especially during some of the toughest times our industry has ever faced. His presence, both in person and online, brought people together and reminded us all what resilience looks like.

Our hearts go out to his family, friends, staff, and everyone whose life he touched. From all of us at Food In Motion Catering, we are holding you in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, brother. Your impact won’t be forgotten.
