Elections Alberta sent this our way after they booked our Hall for the referendum!

SENT VIA EMAIL

RE: 2026 Referendum โ€“ October 19

Attention:

Alberta is preparing for the provincial referendum on October 19, 2026. This event will require an unprecedented number of election workers, creating opportunities for Albertans to participate in a variety of paid roles.

As organizations that serve Albertans, we encourage you to share these employment opportunities with your members, clients, employees, or networks. The Elections Alberta website provides information on available positions for returning office staff and election officers, including qualifications, responsibilities, rates of pay, and how to apply.

Election officers are appointed to work at voting places, where they provide voting services to electors. Responsibilities include setting up voting places, assisting electors throughout the voting process, answering questions, supporting other election day staff, and participating in the ballot count.

Positions are available for:

Advance voting: October 13โ€“17, 2026
Election Day: October 19, 2026
Ballot count: October 19โ€“21, 2026

Due to the anticipated high voter turnout, the ballot count is expected to begin as early as 5:00 p.m. on October 19. Counting will continue until all ballots have been processed, with election officers working scheduled shifts throughout the counting period.

Current employment opportunities and application information are available on the Elections Alberta website at https://www.elections.ab.ca/jobs/.

If you have any questions, please contact Operations at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Gordon McClure
Chief Electoral Officer

This is one of the two kittens that I can only assume have been abandoned at the Hall. These are two kittens that look the same with one discovered alone on Thursday and another one today. Slim chance one of our FB followers is doing this but I need to post!

I have cleaned up many disgusting things at the Hall but this really crosses a line for me. Please donโ€™t! So stressful finding a crying starving unhealthy kitten and absolutely having no place to take it! Like I donโ€™t do enough for this community/hall! Be responsible and neuter and spay your animals or be responsible for the outcome! Pass that on please if you recognize these kittens.

Once again I will be looking into security cameras at the Hall. It would sure be great to know who is doing this heartless illegal activity. It violates provincial and federal animal welfare laws.

Cameras would also identify those that bring their household garbage to the Hall garbage bins. We have already had one garbage can taken away because of this.

Cameras would also identify those that come to our parking lot to spin circles spraying gravel and digging in the big ruts almost every time we get the County to come and fix it.

What a beautiful morning it was for the Canada Day Pancake Breakfast at Brookville Hall this year!

A huge THANK YOU to all of you that came out for breakfast; it sure was a great group for smiles and conversation. It was steady traffic with 216 breakfasts purchased, 26 free to under 6 yrs and then of course all the volunteers were fed too!

Sending a shout-out to our amazing volunteers who donated their time and effort to make our pancake breakfast a great success: Sophie Homeniuk, Suzanne Robinson, Clint Lacroix, and Kevin and Erlinda Harvey. Oh, letโ€™s not forget about Craig Sargent, who battled the heat of that grill once again to cook all those pancakes. Brenda (our V-P) with her granddaughter Sienna, and Karen (our Treasurer), were also a great addition in the kitchen!

The kids had a blast with our amazing balloon twister and talented face painter, adding even more fun to the event.
BTW, if you made arrangements with Maielle for face painting, send us a message as she had problems with her phone!

Watching people reunite and visit and meet other community members is definitely one of the greatest rewards for organizing these events. We appreciate all the positive feedback and compliments that we received and the tips/donations too! We really are a great community out here, arenโ€™t we!!!

We usually try and take a few pictures but unfortunately it was so busy, nobody thought about taking pictures. We welcome any pictures that you would like to share on our FB page.

We look forward to the next time that we can all gather again. Thank you for your support!
