Due to the state of emergency in Annapolis County and ongoing air quality concerns from the wildfires, we are cancelling tomorrow’s Sketch & Stroll event (August 17). 💛

We will reschedule for a new date once it’s safe to gather outdoors. Thank you for understanding — and please take care of yourselves and your neighbours.

Support for Wildfire Evacuees – Bear River East / Annapolis Valley

If you or someone you know has been displaced by the current wildfires in Nova Scotia, Rove Acres is opening up what we can to help:

Emergency Shelter – Our glamping tent (not in the forest) is available free of charge for evacuees needing a safe, private place to stay. The tent is off-grid, pets and children are welcome, and comes with a queen bed; we can also add a queen blow-up mattress for extra sleeping space.

Personal Tent Space – If you’d like to set up your own tent, we have room available.

Eco Washroom – Composting toilet on site for use.

Donation Drop-Off – We’re accepting essentials like blankets, toiletries, non-perishable food, and pet supplies to support local relief efforts.

And yes… we’re also very good at hugs if you need one. 💛

We’re located in Bear River East, NS — about 15 minutes from Digby.

This Week at Picnic & Play: Mud Kitchen & Nature Soup!

Get ready for messy, hands-on fun as we dive into nature’s pantry! Kids will love creating “nature soup” using mud, leaves, flowers, and all kinds of outdoor treasures in our DIY mud kitchen.

Bring your little chefs and let their imaginations run wild as they mix, scoop, and stir in the great outdoors. Perfect for curious hands and budding nature lovers!

When: Friday, August 15 | 11 AM – 3 PM
Where: Rove Acres, Bear River East

We’ll have:
A bug themed scavenger hunt
Crafts inspired by pollinators — make paper plate butterfly wings and egg carton bumblebees
Relaxed lawn games and reading tent
