I just got the Legendary Box from “Inis” with the expansions from and it’s honestly gorgeous. The artwork alone pulls you into that whole Celtic myth and lore atmosphere. It feels epic before the game even starts.

In Inis you’re trying to become the High King of the island by fulfilling one of three victory conditions: controlling territories, spreading your clans across the land, or establishing presence around sacred sanctuaries. It’s not just about conquering the map; it’s about position, influence, and timing.

What I love most about this game is the dynamics and the deep strategy you need to win. The area movement and territory control system is something quite unique in my collection, and here it works brilliantly. It’s technically a game with clans on a map… but if you play it like a constant battle game, you’re actually playing it wrong. I don’t know any game that plays like this, and does it so well.

The magic of Inis is that conflict is a choice. You really have to think carefully about when to start a clash, because fighting can easily cost you the game if you pick the wrong moment.

Another thing I really enjoy is the card drafting each round. It creates these tense little mind games where you try to anticipate what others might do.
That said, there are two small things I’m less enthusiastic about:
• The game is huge on the table. It could honestly have been designed a bit more compact.
• And sometimes the draft can be a bit unlucky, depending on the cards that circulate.

But even with that, it remains a game that feels strategic, elegant, and very thematic. Every session tells a slightly different story of shifting alliances, careful positioning, and the occasional heroic clash.

Definitely one of those games that feels both thoughtful and mythic at the same time.

🎲 started by to show people what actually hits the tables this weeken! And we have started of our weekend with our weekly Boardgame meetup 🥳

We played Echoes of Emprors from a Belgian Boardgame with a wopping 8.5 score in
It’s one of the favorites to play!

Then we have the storytelling adventure game Tales of the Arabian Nights by and where people got enslaved, mugged and robbed but hey, the whole table was having fun, so yeah haha! Love it when a game makes everyone roleplay and laugh 🤣

Last weekend there was a event in Ghent and some of them were still enjoying their time by Playing it here :)) published by

And this week’s question is: What 5 games brought you into Boardgames?

These are the 5 games, which I changed to 6 games, and I own all of them around 15 years (except for Zombicide which I bought in 2012) and I will never get rid of them, simply because these are the games that opened a New World to me :D

What is your gateway game? The one (or more) that made you really fall in love with this Boardgame experience?

Machiavelli from@999games - this game we played at the dining table when I still lived at home as a teenager^^

Ascension from - the game that made me fall in love with what deckbuilding really can do! And the first game i really enjoyed Playing solo and ever since when I see “deckbuilding” it has to compete with this smooth system as reference^^

Pandemic by the first time I ever played a cooperative game, it was my introduction to a new type of gameplay and I loved it!

Dominion by - me and my brother love Playing this game, it’s a golden oldie, that I keep enjoying! And offcourse a deckbuilder, love this mechanic. I played this before I bought Ascension, but since I had Ascension this one rarely hits the table anymore.

Zombicide by this is the game that made me go from: I like playing games to I LOVE Playing games!! Especially with a big group, the adrenaline flowing, there’s just nothing like it! Such an experience this one!

Saboteur is also on there, because it’s simply a game I used to play sooooo much, it’s also one of my oldest games, I have this since I was 16 so… yea 20 years now! Saboteur is the game that I always had with me in my backpack when I went to friends. So for nostalgic reason I put on this 6th game, because this list would not have been correct without it.

👾 Last year (2025) I rediscovered board games.
And this year, right in the middle of my exam period, I rediscovered solo gaming. Which is kind of funny, because that’s actually how I used to play for years. Then life happened, and I went through a period where I didn’t really have the energy for hobbies anymore. For quite a few years I barely touched a board game at all.

And now here I am again… playing games, letting my brain relax, and finding an offline hobby again in a world where so many of us (myself included) became a bit screenaddicted. I’m honestly really grateful for our community and you, who has played a huge role in it. 💛

Today’s game is Under Falling Skies by with a score op 7.6 which in my opinion is to low. This is one of the most seamless solo board game experiences I’ve ever had. Everything just flows. It’s intuitive, fast, and incredibly smooth to play.
I almost never give scores to games because I find that really hard to do…
but this one gets a clear:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Offcourse I’m biased because of the mechanics which are my favorites: Dice Placement, Resource Management AND it’s a Puzzle… I mean, the PERFECT game would have added deck building, but I Don’t even miss it here ;)

This game actually started as a print-and-play and became so popular that a publisher picked it up. And… I completely get why.

You place dice to run actions in your underground base while an alien fleet slowly descends toward Earth. The concept is simple… but every decision matters, because rounds are limited and really need to think things through! I have played this game a couple of times and only the last time I could win!

You can play a quick standalone game in about half an hour, but there’s also a campaign mode with a comic book storyline, which is such a cool touch.

And the vibe is pure 90s arcade energy! It also feels like an arcade game. It’s really well done.

I’m ill and I haven’t been going to school all week. It’s the reason I’m posting every day and replying to everyone within the hour 😅

Today is the first day without a headache and feeling absolutely exhausted. Soooooo I’m ready to play solo games since I don’t want to make other people ill.

Under falling skies by
Love this because it feels like a videogame from the 90’s. It also has dice rolling which I like and it’s not an easy peasy one where your win feels really good if it happens :D

Warp’s Edge by
This one is New, I bought is after .plays adviced it to me and after reading the rules I’m Pretty sure I will like it a lot! Thx for the recommendation Juccee!

Ascension by
I have been playing this game for yeeeears now and I still love it! I cannot wait for the .crowdfunding loot to arrive because finding expansions for this game is nearly impossible! I’m really curious at the new cards and mechanics! Now I’m still Playing with the base game :)

Star Realms by
Supposedly there’s a solo variant on this one! I Will try to play it this weekend. This game is my most played 2-player game because of it’s size and incredible smooth gameplay. I keep buying The Expansion (which is on sale in de Spelgezel in Ghent for 12€) and end up giving it away because people like it so much i donate it to them 😅 after giving away 3 copies I have decided to keep my Expansion now and I pledged to stop giving away games from my collection 🤣 except for the 1 year anniversary of Bordgenoten that we will celebrate on the 21th of March in the then I will give some games away, including Star Realms Colony Wars, since, I mean, it’s such a good game for so little money 🥳

Today it’s playtime and tomorrow there’s a Boardgame swap !

The Boardgame swap this saturday: you Bring a game and you can swap it for another approximately the same value :) if you have a bigger game you can swap it for multiple smaller games.

21th of March we are celebrating 1 year Bordgenoten! And we will do a big giveaway of multiple games! Would you like to donate some games for the giveaway, you can DM me :)

I will sadly not be attending today and tomorrow, but for sure I’m back next week :D

Okay so… I’m about to try something new 👀

I’m starting journaling games.

Not journaling-journaling.
Actual games. On paper. Maybe with dice. Just me and a notebook…. It reminds me of when I had an actual journal, why did i stop doing that? Whatever the reason, I’m back at it, but a bit different this time!

🌳 The Bonsai Diary
You grow a bonsai that can outlive you.
So then the question becomes… who inherits it? What kind of world do they live in? What kind of person did you become?

It has a very long-term arc. Very “Sleeping Gods but make it introspective” and I’m honestly SO curious how my brain is going to handle that.
It’s written by for those interested!

🎲 Just Roll With It
An RPG-inspired habit journal where you level up your life.
XP for habits. Growth as a campaign.
Gamifying discipline? Say no more! The Hero’s journey can begin^^

I’ve never “played” something like this before.
The closest I’ve come is roll & writes like Cartographers… but this feels different.
More vulnerable.
Because the board state is literally… me.
This journal is written by an actual phychologist .port for those interested!

I’ve been following creators like and .dungeon for a while and they make paper-only RPG energy look SO cool. I’m so excited (and slightly unsure) about what I’m stepping into!

But honestly?
If I can turn my future into a legacy arc
and my habits into a leveling system… that sounds like my kind of experiment!

Let’s see what happens! To be continued…

Have any of you tried journaling games before? If so, got any tips for an absolute beginner?
