A bit later because of (mild) illness here's a new weekly :beatnation: mix! An obvbiously expected small tribute to Bruno Kramm is included alongside my usual mix of personal favourites and the latest greatest new tracks.
The effect of facebook cutting off hotlinking unless you pay for it was instantly noticeable last week with a 30% drop in listeners for last week's mix. Like always things like this exorbitantly impact smaller creators, artists and businesses for whom €43 a month is actually a noticeable amount of money. Like I have stated before these mixes already cost me somewhere between €30 and €50 a week in new music, the only way I can afford to add advertising to it is to lower my music cost. Which would completely defeat the purpose! I'm not a for profit organisation I'm just a small time DJ who wants to help advertise obscure electronic music. I've never made anything off that but I'm now pushed even further down the visibility order. So any help in getting the word of these mixes out there is much appreciated. Liking, sharing, commenting all help push these at least a bit higher in the algorythm. Presumably.

RIP Bruno Kramm. While I always say my scene journey started in slimelight (it really did) my first contact with the wider goth/industrial scene was being dragged by a friend of a friend to a Das Ich Concert in my hometown of Mechelen in the late 90s. I was very impressed but did little with it. But after falling in love with the scene one of the first tracks I went looking for was Kain und Abel because that one stuck with me. Last year I was very pleasantly surprised by Das Ich releasing a really good new album. I don't know what to think yet. This is so unexpected. The music will always stay.

With the biggest name I'm calling an end to the 2 years of weekly :beatnation: discoveries. I could add a lot of artists that have made an impression over this time. There's also the rediscoveries, bands I discovered in many different ways and some that released their best work in years, and some bands that have caught my eye but might be more suited for a feature in the future.

So for my final discovery I leave you with the amazing Slayyyter - ready to fully hit the mainstream with her trashy pop that leans heavily into techno, electro, industrial and even darkwave. She blends everything into insanely catchy danceable music that has put her on the brink of global stardom. I'll be seeing her live in just over a month and that'll be the last time anyone gets to see her in a venue of that size. I'd tell you to not sleep on her, but I'm sure she'll show up on most people's radar anyway. And it's very well deserved. From Erotic Electronic to the just released Crank 2 her music speaks for itself. Go listen. She's proof that pop can be layerd, smart, trashy, dirty and just plain damn good.

Another week has come and gone so it's time for a new weekly mix! I still had quite some new music still to play from the busy few weeks as well as some brand new tracks, but also found time to bring back some personal favourites as well!

After a weekend away I'm back with another of the weekly mix fueled discoveries!.
Death Valley Fight Club has featured heavily since very early on starting when I stumbled upon whiteout. That track already showcases much of his typical sound, most notably some massive bass synths! He treads the line beautifully between old school dark electro and ebm and more modern production as well as trance and aggrotech influences. Currently he has an EP of trance covers out, that while standing out in his body of work are also still very much recognisable as done by him.
Also, let's be honest. That's just a very good bandname☺️

A double whammy today for the weekly :beatnation: discoveries! 1 man 2 projects and both have featured prominently in my mixes.
AVANTFRANK and nerrOttik are two very distinct projects, but the DNA of the single creator is quite prominent. Whereas nerrOtik stands for a harder, more aggressive form of dark electro, Avantfrank leans more into synthpop territory.
They'll occasionally run into each other (like reworking a nerrOtik track in the Avantfrank style). The most important common denominator is in the songwriting though, with both projects forgoing the easiest trappings of their respective genres and instead choosing a deeper, more weighted approach.
As a bonus all music from this artist can be downloaded in a pay what you want principle!

Probably my favourite thing about doing these weekly mixes is finding artists that don't quite fit the mould. So onwards to one of these for the next installment of the weekly beatnation discoveries.
I owed TAZENTO a bit of an apology yesterday when I realised that he'd sent me his insanely good new single void presence and I forgot to include it in my latest weekly mix. A classic aggrotech banger including a remix by another of my recent discoveries Slichtnacht. But there's a lot more to his music than four to the floor dancefloor tracks. And even when he does those there seem to be layers to discover and breaks to adore. Add to that all the other stuff he releases which ranges from closer to idm, witch house, ambient ... to one of my absolute favourite recent tracks K-Flection. I think I gave it the biggest compliment I could by including it in my Resistanz setlist even though it scared me sh*tless to put it in. An atypical track - partly basically a capella rap and not even fully in English - but so good that it was also one of the first to make the shortlist.
Expect the new single to feature heavily starting next week and until then, check out links to spotify, bandcamp and Soniccrypt in the comments. I can't recommend checking him out enough!
