it's almost weekend! That means my latest weekly :beatnation: has hit Youtube!
All the same music, now with album art per song and easy to follow which track is playing! And you get some moving thingies to keep engaged too! Enjoy, and like with the original post - do let me know if you have a favourite track here!

My latest mix is up again! After 2 quieter weeks for new music it picked up again with some absolutely stellar new tracks and albums! If you listen - do let me know if you have any favourites!

Slight change in the title but not in the contents, your weekly :beatnation: is back with some of my recent favourites but also mostly a lot of great new music from: Of What Remains, Nyxady, Grandemonium, Elektroterapi ft. Sacrothon, Etropia Psiotica, Device Noize (Slichtnacht mix), MisSuicide, Avan...

Like on general I release my weekly mixes on Mixcloud on tuesday, Fridays are for the release on Youtube! I love that I can add the original album art and make that visible for listeners. Album Art is a part of the identity of a Song/album! (And it's pretty easy to see which song is playing at any time, which is a weakness with Mixcloud)

Another week, more new music in another weekly :beatnation: mix. The heat made me sin against one of my principles as I already put in a faderhead track before realising I also had a new one ready (and caused a few more lapses in concentration) but there's some great new music in this one so I hope someone finds a new favourite here!

A very sweaty new weekly :beatnation: has arrived! Despite the heat in my living room where I mix these I still managed to get a 2 hour set done featuring several recent classics and new music by Slichtnacht, Flesh Field (Schneider mix) Bustié feat. Gina Kuhn, Vioflesh, Alienare, Noir (Gencab mix),...

With the weekly :beatnation: arriving a day later (as I wasn't home yesterday thanks to the long pentecostal weekend in Belgium) I have a question. Who among you listens to these weekly mixes? Do you have anything you're missing in them? And if you don't listen, what could get you to listen? Or do you just not know of them and are only getting this post because I tagged it with followers?

For those interested I'll add a bit of the anatomy of my weekly mixes. Generally on friday I will go through my mails for the latest releases on bandcamp. I'll listen to every track that was released that got my attention this way. When I find a track I like enough I will add it to my shopping cart on bandcamp. If I like enough tracks from a full album release I'll buy the full album. 'Like' in this context basically means that I feel I can incorporate it in a weekly mix and preferably also can conceive playing it for a real life club night. I'm away most weekends, so on monday after I get home from work I check my mails again for any releases added during the weekend (usually just a few at most) and will also check for any promo material I received either from bands/labels directly or from the few pools I'm a part of. This is also again just a few tracks at most, and I'll listen to each one but still hold to the same principles as the tracks I buy. I'll remove any I may have added in my bandcamp cart that also arrived as a promo (for which I'm always grateful) and buy the music that remains. Most weeks I will also check the german charts to see if I missed any band that may not be on bandcamp (or my bandcamp radar) and if I find any I want to add I'll look for other sources like Qobuz or Beatport to legally get my hands on these tracks. In the end I spend on average between €30 and €60 on new music every week.
After I bought all the new music I prepare my music folders. Moving tracks I played in the previous mix to my cooldown or 'replay' folders and copy the newly downloaded tracks to my 'newest music' folder.
I boot up my DJ software and load in all the music and have the software analyse it for characteristics like BPM and key and I'll check that the album art shows correctly. This makes the mixing easier as I don't do any more preparation for the mix. I set my software ready to record a video stream and the next 2-3 hours I play the mix. If you've ever seen me DJ live you know I'm quite enthusiastic and it's no different for the weekly mix. I treat it like I'm at a club.
After the mix is completed I convert the video file to audio and upload it (with a bit of a description) to Mixcloud, where I'll also add the automatically generated timestamped playlist. And I'll upload the video file to Youtube with a timer so it releases on Friday.
The next day I'll post the mix to my social media (FB and Instagram). On FB it's a straight link with the tagged tracklist in the comments. For Instagram I create a quick image with a QR code to the mix on mixcloud. The rest of the week I do some more promotion.

I don't know if this is something anyone was interested in but who knows right? On average through the week I spend about 7-8 hours on making and promoting these mixes and I still hope more than anything that someone discovers a new band or even just song through these and spends money (or time) on that band. I really mean it when I say the people making the music are the actual artists and they deserve your love (and money/time).
(image of a much younger me playing at being the DJ for algorithm purposes because apparently that helps)

Well damn, thanks for everyone who listened! hope you enjoyed this mix. 2nd in the futurepop chart is pretty nice that one's pretty competitive (and quite often lacking in anything resembling futurepop :p )

Tuesday! I have a new weekly mix up! After some very busy months release wise last week was probably the quietest I've had this year. Still quite some new music, and a backlog from the last weeks :) . This did however also give me a chance to bring back some more recent favourites as well!

A quieter week for new music so I got an opportunity to bring back quite some recent favourites for this week's mix. Thinking about reevaluating the 2026 releases so far so I can have a more focussed folder for it. Regardless I still love making these and love adding all the latest releases that I l...

It's been a while but ... Album focus time!
I always feel a bit awkward when I receive promo music, because I like to curate my mixes based only on what I like and I don't want to feel beholden to someone. It's also one of the reasons I never charge anything for a DJ set in the goth/industrial scene. But I was lucky enough to have early access to the latest album by Delivered Soul and the quality of the album is such that the result has been several tracks played over the last few weeks leading up to last week's full album release. This is (again) a very strong album that sits beautifully in the crossroads of pop, industrial, trance and techno but never feels schizophrenic. Both eminently danceable and perfect for just a quiet listen this one comes very highly recommended!
