🇰🇷 Memorial Day in South Korea | 6 June 🇰🇷

In South Korea, Memorial Day, also known as Hyeonchung-il (현충일), is a national holiday observed on 6 June to honor the soldiers and civilians who died in service to the Republic of Korea.

Established in 1956 following the Korean War, the day primarily commemorates those who lost their lives during that conflict, but also recognizes the sacrifices made in other conflicts and efforts in national defense.

🕊️ Key Traditions
• A national memorial ceremony is held at the Seoul National Cemetery
• A siren sounds across the country at 10:00 a.m., calling for a moment of silence
• The Taegeukgi (national flag of Korea) is flown at half-mast in remembrance

It is a day of solemn reflection and a reminder of the sacrifices made in defense of the nation and the enduring gratitude owed to those who gave their lives.

On this day, we also remember and express our heartfelt gratitude to the 22 countries, including Belgium, that participated as part of the United Nations forces during the Korean War. Their contributions of troops and medical assistance played a particularly meaningful role in defending peace and freedom on the Korean Peninsula.

✨ K-Culture Playground: K-POP Review ✨

📅 31 May 2025 (Sat)
📍 Korean Cultural Center

Led by Belgium’s K-POP dance crew, The Collective, the classes welcomed many first-time dancers. There was some nervous energy at first, but once the music kicked in, everything changed. We laughed, clapped, and cheered each other on. For 90 minutes, we were all part of the stage. 🎶

💎 SEVENTEEN’s Pretty U taught us moves that were cute and charming,
💗 while KATSEYE’s Touch brought out our confident and stylish side.

The first group session wrapped up with a fun relay dance that captured all the joy and energy we shared.

🎥 Watch the relay dance video and relive the moment!
