We offer exhibitions, film screenings, conferences, a library, cooking and language classes (KCC King Sejong Institute). The Korean Cultural Center in Brussels extends its heartfelt gratitude to Hojin Kwon and Mélanie Flores (Flores de Musica) for their passionate and captivating performance at KCC On Stage 2025 on Tuesday, 14 October.
True to its title, 'In:Spir-Ation' was a journey of musical inspiration created through the enchanting harmony of the recorder and the harpsichord. From the delicate nuances of early music to the expressive freedom of contemporary works, the two artists delivered a vivid musical experience that transcended time, leaving a deep and lasting impression on the audience. 🎶✨

We would also like to sincerely thank our incredible audience who joined us. Especially considering the challenges of Tuesday’s national strike, your presence was a true testament to your passion for music, and it meant the world to us and the artists. This national holiday commemorates King Sejong’s proclamation of Hunminjeongeum in 1446, celebrating the originality and scientific design of Hangul. It was established to promote appreciation of the Korean alphabet both at home and abroad, and to deepen the nation’s love for Hangul.

Once a moonlit celebration led by women during Chuseok (Korea’s harvest festival), Ganggangsullae is a circle dance filled with singing, rhythm, and joy. Dancers hold hands, move in a large ring under the bright full moon, and sometimes play fun folk games in between songs.

Its origins are mysterious — some legends even link it to Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s wartime strategy — but for centuries it’s been a way to give thanks for the harvest, pray for prosperity, and celebrate community. 🌾💃

Recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Property and listed by UNESCO in 2009, Ganggangsullae remains one of Korea’s most beautiful and symbolic traditions. 🇰🇷
