Because today, we didn’t just win a Test match. Today we made history.

Bangladesh have defeated a full strength Australia in Test cricket & this could very well be the biggest victory in Bangladesh cricket history. What makes it even more special is the way we did it. For four days of Test cricket, Bangladesh dominated Australia for 11 consecutive sessions, 11 sessions of relentless pressure, discipline, courage & belief. This wasn’t a lucky win. This wasn’t a fluke.

This was complete domination !!

Hasan Mahmud was sensational.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim was magnificent.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was exceptional.

But this victory belongs to every single player who stepped onto that field wearing the Bangladesh jersey.

And then there is Nazmul Hossain Shanto 🫡

I want to talk about his captaincy because what we witnessed today was something special. Shanto controlled this game. He took every little detail seriously. He made the right bowling changes at the right moments. He pushed his fielders. He kept motivating the team. He understood when to attack, when to defend & most importantly, how to keep Australia under pressure.

This was captaincy at the highest level.

Maybe history will eventually give us the final answer, but after watching this performance, I have absolutely no hesitation in saying this: Bangladesh may have found their greatest Test captain !!

And I genuinely believe that one day, Nazmul Hossain Shanto could be remembered as the greatest captain in Bangladesh cricket history.

Today, Bangladesh didn’t just beat Australia.

Bangladesh showed the world that we belong here.

To everyone who doubted Bangladesh cricket.
To everyone who constantly abused our cricketers.
To everyone who celebrated every failure and wanted to see Bangladesh cricket collapse. This victory is not for you. And to those who wanted to finish Bangladesh cricket once & for all, perhaps it is time to put the hatred where it belongs and keep your mouths shut.

Because the Tigers have answered you on the field.

This victory belongs to the players who fought.
It belongs to the fans who never stopped believing.
It belongs to every Bangladeshi who has ever felt that pride when the red and green walks onto the field.

What a statement from the young man!

Against a world-class Australian side, facing an elite bowling attack featuring Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon, Tanzid Hasan Tamim produced a magnificent maiden Test century.

But this was not just about the hundred. It was about resilience, patience and character.

After Bangladesh were reduced to 96/1 at the end of Day 1, Tanzid came back on Day 2 and showed incredible composure. He left the ball beautifully, respected the good deliveries, waited for his opportunities and kept building the innings. This is the kind of temperament you need to survive and succeed in Test cricket.

And perhaps most importantly, he is proving that he isn’t just a white-ball talent.

T20. ODI. Test.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim is slowly establishing himself as a genuine three-format batter for Bangladesh.

The talent has always been obvious. Today, we’re seeing the temperament to match it.

একদিন স্বপ্নের দিন 🇧🇩❤️

কিছু দিন আসে, যেগুলো শুধু একটি ক্রিকেট ম্যাচের দিন হয়ে থাকে না। কিছু দিন ইতিহাসের পাতায় জায়গা করে নেয়। আজ বাংলাদেশের ক্রিকেটের জন্য ঠিক তেমনই একটি দিন।

অস্ট্রেলিয়ার মতো শক্তিশালী, পূর্ণশক্তির একটি দলের বিপক্ষে দিনের শুরুটা ছিল বাংলাদেশের জন্য স্বপ্নের মতো। আর দিন শেষ হলো আরও বড় এক স্বপ্ন নিয়ে।

অস্ট্রেলিয়া অলআউট ১৯৮ রানে! 🔥

হাসান মাহমুদের অসাধারণ ৬ উইকেট, এবাদত হোসেনের দুর্দান্ত লাইন ও লেংথ, তাসকিন আহমেদের ধারালো বোলিং এবং পুরো বাংলাদেশ দলের সম্মিলিত আগ্রাসন অস্ট্রেলিয়ার ব্যাটিংকে একের পর এক চাপে ফেলেছে।

অস্ট্রেলিয়ার ব্যাটিং লাইনআপে যেখানে একের পর এক বিশ্বমানের ব্যাটার, সেখানে বাংলাদেশের পেসাররা তাদের কোনো মুহূর্তেই স্বস্তি দেননি। বিশেষ করে হাসান মাহমুদ আজ যা করেছেন, সেটা শুধু তাঁর ক্যারিয়ারের সেরা বোলিং নয়, বাংলাদেশের টেস্ট ক্রিকেটের অন্যতম স্মরণীয় বোলিং পারফরম্যান্স হয়ে থাকবে।

কিন্তু গল্পটা এখানেই শেষ হয়নি।

দিনের শেষ সেশনে বাংলাদেশের ব্যাটাররাও দেখিয়ে দিয়েছেন, এই দিনটা শুধু বোলারদের নয়।

একদিনে একটি দল অস্ট্রেলিয়াকে মাত্র ১৯৮ রানে অলআউট করবে, তারপর নিজেরাও ৯৬/১ করে দিন শেষ করবে, এমন একটা দিন বাংলাদেশের টেস্ট ক্রিকেটে আমরা কতবার দেখেছি?

সত্যি বলতে, এটা সম্ভবত বাংলাদেশের টেস্ট ইতিহাসের সেরা দিনগুলোর একটি।

হয়তো কালকের দিনটা কঠিন হবে। অস্ট্রেলিয়া অবশ্যই ঘুরে দাঁড়ানোর চেষ্টা করবে। এই ম্যাচ এখনও অনেক দূর যেতে পারে। কিন্তু আজকের দিনটা বাংলাদেশের।

আজ বাংলাদেশ শুধু অস্ট্রেলিয়ার বিরুদ্ধে ভালো খেলেনি।

আজ বাংলাদেশ দেখিয়েছে, বিশ্বাস থাকলে, পরিকল্পনা ঠিক থাকলে এবং নিজেদের সামর্থ্যের ওপর আস্থা থাকলে বিশ্বের যেকোনো দলের বিপক্ষেই লড়াই করা সম্ভব।

একদিনের জন্য হলেও আজ বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেটের স্বপ্নটা একটু বড় করে দেখতেই পারে।

Two sessions. Two statements. And Bangladesh have made both of them count. 🇧🇩🔥

A dreamy start for Bangladesh against Australia.

Australia are 183/8 at Tea, a position that would have been beyond most expectations before the start of the day. But Bangladesh’s fast bowlers have been relentless.

Hasan Mahmud has been outstanding. Pace, movement, discipline and the ability to hit the right areas consistently. This has been a beautiful display of fast bowling.

Ebadot Hossain has finally found his rhythm, bowling those testing lengths that make life extremely uncomfortable for the Australian batters. And Taskin Ahmed has played his part brilliantly as well.

Two sessions have gone Bangladesh’s way. Now comes the big question:

How far can Australia go from 183/8?

Can Bangladesh wrap this innings up quickly and take complete control of the Test?

The opportunity is right there. Now they just need to finish the job. 🇧🇩🏏
