Around 5 years ago, I had a lovely couple contact me to see whether they could just ‘sign the paperwork’, so they were married. I explained that legally I need to say a few words, and then the couple must read the legal vows to each other- taking approximately 2 minutes, and then they were married. They straight away said ‘yes, let’s do that’. I was intrigued, and as I got to know this couple it became evident why they wanted to do this… they VALUED their marriage above all else, they were so so excited to be getting married, but they were shy, they HATED being centre of attention with a passion, they wanted the marriage with all of their being… but they didn’t want the ‘wedding’. My ‘legals only’ was born. For couples who want to be married, with a no frills approach- but hey, they always still feel good 🥰🥰

This morning I was finalising some marriage paperwork from the weekend… and I was having a bit of a reminisce, I started flipping through all of the marriage certificates, and remembering all those beautiful stories couples had shared with me.

Being a celebrant is a huge privilege, the things that are shared, the things that don’t make it into the ceremony, but allow me to understand you as a couple, as individuals…had me tearing up!

I also realised during this reminisce, that I had no idea how many couples I had married… just that it was way over 100 by now… I did a little count and 172…

Does the number mean anything to me??? The answer- yes and no.

Yes- because that is 344 people have shared their story with me. 344 people who I have laughed with, sometimes cried with. 344 people who have shared their lives with me.

No- because the number is not the important thing, but the way I felt, and the way my couples felt during their ceremony, and preparation.

So congratulations, congratulations to me, but more importantly congratulations to all my amazing couples!!! I loved marrying each and everyone of you; I have not forgotten all of the amazing, funny, personal, deep stories you have shared. ❤️❤️❤️

On the NYE 2022 we welcomed a baby boy into our family. He is fitting in so well, and I’m getting back in the swing of this newborn stage.

There two… so much FUN, so much energy; I had an absolute ball creating their ceremony and meeting their amazing family and friends.
This is the kind of couple I love meeting, love marrying, and get slightly sad about saying ‘see you around to’ because I appreciate people sharing their lives with me, and one of the most intimate moments in their life with me.

Possibly… but awesome couple and I knew I could 😜
