Poppies are here !! 🌸

Daniella has got the poppy season started. Picking her way thru the beginning of the crop.

With a good drop of rain over the past week. Stems are strong and flower heads full.

The seasons are changing.

The final month of spring see’s the end of the poppies for another year.
They have truly been a top favourite with their vibrant playful colour.

Yet with summer just around the corner the poppies are being replaced with the amazing colours of dahlias.

Soon the flower fields will be overflowing with blooms. We will barely be able to keep up- the feels of a summer flower farmer.

He is busy picking one of our Aussie favourites.

Hakea Laurina

A short and sweet season.

We planted these beauties many a years ago. Part of our many farm experimentations and a definite keeper on the flower farm.

A show of beautiful, architectural blooms that look like sea urchins and foliage that lasts and lasts.

For a catch up of all that’s been going on in the glasshouse.

Go to stories to get all the latest from the team.

The glasshouse is just one part of how we grow on the farm. We have the privilege of being able to experiment with high tech farming in the glasshouse and the best of old school methods outdoors.

Much has been going on at the farm the past few weeks.

The weather has been kind. With regular rainfall. It has been a perfect time for all the planting. Already thinking about the cooler months- poppies, delphinium, ornamental kale, chrysanthemums, carnations are getting their roots into the warm ground.

The glasshouse is going thru a mini transition with a trial crop of winter dahlias going in.

Picking is in full throttle- perfumed tuberose, lisianthus, sunflower, scabiosca, dahlia’s. A new crop of babies breath that look like a field of snow, camomile daisy, and whimsical Queen Anne lace are being picked on daily rotation.

The summer rhythm on the flower farm- sun, rain, planting, picking and watching all the flowers bloom.

Heading into the new year grateful for what has been and looking forward to what’s ahead.

I always find this time is a whirlwind of things to get through. With the full force of summer upon us the farm is in overdrive and little time is left to create New Year wishlists.

However I quickly store in the memory banks the dreams and wishes I have for family, friends, the farm and our flower community.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year filled with love, growth and cherished moments.
