Never a dull moment here at Hopewood!
A strange rustling in the bedroom chimney (first thought: possum, then rat) revealed itself to be a parrot with both determination and a taste for interior design.
He had somehow found his way behind the marble in the chimney and, in his bid for freedom, had started chipping his way through it. Yes, our original 1884 marble fireplace now bears his escape marks.
Enter Danny, who kindly cancelled his entire morning to orchestrate the rescue, joined by four very patient Fire and Rescue gents, a chisel, and a bowl of black sunflower seeds.
Several hours later the parrot finally burst free, straight through the room, into one of Tim’s paintings, and then out into the garden.
Saint-like patience all round. The marble, however, we’re just hoping Danny will come back to fix it!
