Queen Vic Dahlias

Queen Vic Dahlias Queen Vic Dahlias - 8 new Australian dahlia cultivars to grow in your garden. Available now for the first time in 2026

Fresh cut flowers are offered seasonally from early Spring to mid Autumn with both bouquets and straight bunches made using ingredients fresh from the field to order. Bouquets need to be ordered in advance via our website - by 5pm before the day required and are available for pickup only from the farm gate stall. Please note our farm is a private residence and is not open to the public for beyond

our farm gate stall. We kindly ask that you do not visit the farm without a pre-arranged appointment for farm gate pickup / outside of our weekend farm stall hours. As you can imagine, it can be startling to find people wandering around our backyard and home uninvited.

Over the weekend I finally began dividing the seedlings I managed to dig out during the flood, I only went in for the ones I really didn't want to lose, and while their tubers don't look too amazing, some have managed to hang in there! Some have also totally given up the ghost; RIP it wasn't meant to be.

TBH I wasn't able to pull that many out, and I've left quite a few in the ground and am hoping maybe something will sprout despite still sitting in a waterlogged field. I'll find out sometime in November I guess!

These ones are all confirmed as survivors for now 🀞

Which one are you hoping makes it into the ground for future release?

Something that I started doing when I began breeding my Queen Vic dahlias was keeping a plant or two seperate from the field of my favourites and planting them in my garden; so i could visit them in a non "workspace" and also as back up plants for just in case situations like kangaroos eating all my plants, or a zombie apocalypse. Regular stuff like that.

Today I went out and dug them up and put together a few more Queen Vic Collections from my private stock πŸ™Œ

Today I went out to the field and dug up the QV Petal Power that didn't make it out in time. A genuinely unpleasant and stinky job. Unfortunately 123 of my tuber clumps didn't make it 😱

I actually hadn't added up the losses until now, so that was a bit of a shock!

Anyway, how's your week kicking off?

Do you love statistics? I myself can spend hours crunching the numbers to understand how things work - I find it completely fascinating, so I totally crunched numbers today 🧐

Some fun facts from the launch of last night's tuber sale

QV Petal Power Sold out in the first minute (-50 stock count due to losing half a row to flooding!), closely followed by Amore (100+ stock count) which sold out in 3 minutes.

Your favourite order duo combinations were

QV Heartbreaker + QV Dirty Martini
QV Heartbreaker + QV Victoria
QV Heartbreaker + QV Life on Mars
QV Amore + QV Afterglow

and guess what? The top 3 are still available πŸ™Œ

And you know what else? Your favourite trio combo of QV Heartbreaker + QV Victoria + QV Life on Mars is also still up for grabs ( ps this is the best wedding combo - such a winner!)

I'm still feeling the glow today, and I am truly so excited to see Queen Vic growing in your gardens this dahlia season πŸŽ‰

My sale will continue until all cultivars are sold out πŸ™Œ so do jump on the website and pick up your favourites. I will start shipping orders in early September.

Please know I do withhold a small percentage of stock to ensure I can meet my orders, so expect a final small sale in late November!

Until then, thank you for making Queen Vic a success. I honestly could not do this without you.

Babes!!! My rebrand is complete πŸ™Œ I've got a new username, a new website, new branding - Introducing Queen Vic Dahlias!

To celebrate here are some of my favourite combos of my new Queen Vic Dahlias releases, with a little sneaky peek at a combo you'll be able to make next season with a 2027 intro β™₯

5 years ago I started Woodend Flower Farm. Honestly I had NFI what I was doing. I could grow a few plants for sure, but farming? Floristry? I was completely in over my head. Totally drowning. I remember spending 10K on setting up my field that first year and I was losing my mind wondering how I was going to earn that much back from flowers ( I think my turnover was 15K in year one which felt like a huge win).

Over the years I've gotten bigger, then smaller, and now bigger and definitely more niche. I no longer make bouquets, and I've gotten ride of pretty much every other flower I've grown over the past 5 years besides dahlias. I grow a few extra things just for the photos, but honestly I love just being a dahlia breeder and farmer. It kind of feels like I found my place, finally.

And this year, this is my first year where I get to pay myself a living wage. And it feels f***ing fantastic.

Love you babes ###

A quick note for mailing list subscribers - as my mailing list has grown in size it no longer emails you all instantaneously at once (I know, how rude!) but sends my email out in smaller bite size batches, which then gets added to a queue by your email provider along with all the other businesses out there sending you sales pitches :)

What this means - you will receive the sale info hopefully in the next 12 - 24 hours which still allows you plenty of time to prepare for the sale.

Please don't panic if you haven't received the email yet, and if you haven't got it by tomorrow - check your spam! I am now sending from my new queen vic email address so it's possible your filters have re-flagged them.

I'd love to be able to respond to you all individually on this, but I still have one last cultivar to count and am only one wonder woman who loves a little work / life balance.

Queen Vic dahlias 2026 Collection πŸ™Œ

I'm so proud of what I have achieved since I began breeding dahlias, and I'm particularly excited about each and every one of my new Queen Vic dahlia cultivars.

They all have unique features and filled a gap in my dahlia field that I didn't know I had until I grew them.

QV Amore - So similar to cafe au lait; but she has a smaller more stable and usable bloom. She is romance in a flower.

QV Heartbreaker - The perfect salmon bloom, the perfect gold tipped petals with a golden shimmer, exceptionally strong stems; I can never walk past him without picking his flowers.

QV Afterglow - She just really is such a mood booster with her glowy good looks, she's a light-up-the-room girl. Another one I can't walk past without picking!

QV Life on Mars - Just like I am always hunting for the perfect red lipstick (pretty sure it's Hermes btw) I have hunted high and low for the perfect red dahlia. Life on Mars has gorgeous dark stems, shimmery purple backed red petals and is a neutral red - so he works in both cool and warm toned arrangements.

QV Vanilla - White dahlias truly are the backbone of any dahlia collection. Vanilla is a lovely clean white with a nice tight centre, he makes a great round shape and his back petals are longer and remind me of butterfly wings.

QV Petal Power - The one everybody falls for because she is just so unique with her petaloids and split petal tips. She is a super fluffy bunny with attitude and I love her for it.

QV Dirty Martini - Big, bold, beautiful! Dirty Martini is the largest dahlia I grow - as big as your head! He's a sturdy guy with strong stems and is always a conversation starter.

QV Victoria - I like her so much I named her after myself - twice! I love her long thin black stems, her peony style foliage, her open habit and she just blooms her head off. Everyone needs a little QVV in their lives ❀
