Delivering to Albury, Wodonga and surrounds including Rutherglen, Corowa, Chiltern, Howlong, Barnawatha and Springhurst. Flowers can be ordered for pickup in both our Wodonga and Rutherglen stores. Independent Florist using primarily seasonal, local and Australian grown blooms. We make flowers to order from our workshop in Rutherglen and sell pre made and ready to go bunches and arrangements from

our Wodonga shop front Wednesday to Friday 8.30am to 1.30pm and Saturday 9.00am to 1.00pm We also have pre made blooms available form our weekend lifestyle store in Rutherglen.

All good things come to an end….

After much deliberation, plans to scale down, plans to sell part of the business, plans to slowly ease into the next chapter of my life….. I’ve made the decision to stop procrastinating, and hand the reigns over to someone else!

It has been a very, very tough decision…. I love my job! I love this business! I love my staff! I love our whole T& F community and friends!

There’s still so much more I’d like to do, with this little business, but I think there will ALWAYS be more, I’d like to do 😀

So, Thistle and Fern is up for sale ready to give someone else the opportunity to keep up the momentum of growth and opportunity this little business has to offer.

It has been almost 9 years when Thistle and Fern started out of our tiny little shipping container and so proud of how we have grown and what we have achieved in this time.

As International Women’s Day approaches, I wanted to share a photo of our team from June 2024. These incredible women have inspired and supported one another, contributing their talent, knowledge, friendship, and laughter to make Thistle & Fern Flowers the business it is today.

Also, I find it fitting to acknowledge our namesakes, Thistle Aitkin and Fern Aitkin (Fullerton). These two sisters, with their beautiful botanical names, lived right here in my current home.

The second photo is of a letter from Fern to Thistle. The handwriting is delicate and hard to fully decipher, but it’s an envelope filled with pressed violets that originally came from their mother’s garden. The letter would be around 100 years old!

Fern tells Thistle to “keep them and sniff them till they fade.” I wonder what she would think knowing they’re still here, kept in a tin after all these years.

Thistle & Fern is a name that evokes beauty, but it also carries a deeper meaning. Our women-led business is proudly named after two remarkable women, Thistle and Fern, who embody strength, independence, accomplishment, and creativity.

In honor of International Women’s Day, we celebrate these qualities and all the incredible women who inspire us every day.

We love our little shipping container shop (so much) and it is where this amazing business started just over 8 years ago. Starting from an idea to where we are today and this little shop has been at the heart of it all!

However….

Thistle and Fern is shifting focus, which includes offering our container and site at Junction Square, Wodonga, for sale (we will continue to operate out of our Albury space)

Hello 2025 👋

We will be back on deck on Thursday the 9th of January and can’t wait to get on the snips ✂️ again after our Christmas break!

A photo or two from each month of this year, 2024 flew by so quickly did it not?!?

We’ve had another great year, if not slightly challenging (as all our small biz buddies can agree on), and we couldn’t do all this without you, our amazing followers, customers and supporters. Thank you for ordering flowers from us, calling in for flowers and gifts, asking us to be a part of your special event, using our services to put a smile on someone’s face, congratulate or help in times when needing some comfort. As small business, we need all the support we can get to keep this little biz ticking along. We thank you for helping us do so 🌸🤍

We couldn’t do it without our amazing team. Who all turn up, show up and put their all into making this little florist what it is. The way our little team treat Thistle & Fern like their own makes me feel very blessed, thankful and truely grateful to have the best bunch of people to spend my days with 💐 ❤️

And of course I couldn’t do it without the support and help from my partner, family and friends in times of need particularly around Valentine’s, Mother’s Day and Christmas 😆😆

Anyhoo…. Here’s cheers 🥂 to another year gone by and another one to come. Happy New Year my friends! I’m drinking bubbles tonight with friends and family in beautiful Bermagui, to welcome the start of a fresh new year, and looking forward to what the New Year will bring!
