Long tables set in the shadow of the Longroom until well past dark. Guests lingering over dessert as the light turns gold, then soft, then finally gives way to candlelight. Dancing that spills from the marquee out onto the lawn.

Summer weddings here have a rhythm of their own. The day slows down instead of speeding up, and nobody minds staying a little longer than planned.

Four spaces, and four different ways to rest once the celebrating is done.

Squatters Rest, for two. A queen bed, a private bathroom, and enough quiet to properly unwind.

Drovers Digs, for four. Two queen rooms, ideal for couples travelling together.

The Shearers, for ten. Three bedrooms of singles and bunks, built for a bridal party that wants to stay up talking.

The Dairymans Cottage, for eight. A fire pit, a view of the Hopkins River, and a kitchen of its own for slow mornings after.

Twenty four guests across the estate in total. Swipe through to see which one feels like yours.

Two night minimum stay. Enquiries are welcome via https://chatsworthhouse.com.au/contact ๐Ÿ’Œ

In 1859, Scottish born John Moffat began building the homestead at Chatsworth House. He looked to the grand estates of England, choosing bluestone and Roman inspired detailing rarely seen in this part of the country. Edward La Trobe Bateman designed the pleasure gardens that surround it. For generations the property has been spoken of as one of the wonders of the Western District.

Today, it remains a private family home.

Every wedding and gathering here moves through the gardens, the Longroom and the stables, while the homestead stays closed to guests.

The morning after asks for something quieter. Coffee on the verandah. A stray boutonniere left on the table. The barrels still standing where the bar was, catching the early light differently now.

Most venues consider the celebration finished once the last song plays. We think it deserves one more morning together, unhurried, before everyone goes home.

Recovery gatherings are included in every venue hire. Enquiries are welcome via https://chatsworthhouse.com.au/contact ๐Ÿ’Œ

In every bathroom at Chatsworth House you'll find hand care products from The Grampians Goods Co. Handcrafted in small batches in the Northern Grampians, just a short drive from Chatsworth House, using certified organic olive oil and h**p seed oil grown here in Australia.

Our favourite scent at the moment is Grapefruit and Geranium ๐ŸคŒ ... fresh and floral, a little exotic, inspired by the clear night sky over the Grampians.

Winter in the Western District has a quality to it that is difficult to replicate. A silvery-green frost covers the ground, the air is still, and the morning light makes it feel like the whole property is holding its breath.

Spring is not far away, but for now, this. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Chatsworth House has always been a place where people come to learn as much as to celebrate.

The property has hosted field days, grazing clinics, soil health workshops, and Landcare gatherings over the years; events that draw producers, land stewards, and curious minds together to think carefully about how we farm and what we leave behind. Gathering in a working landscape such as Chatsworth House, itself in active regeneration, changes the quality of those conversations.

Whether you are a producer, a land steward, or simply someone who believes that curiosity and skill-building matter as much as output, Chatsworth House welcomes events that cultivate knowledge, connection, and regenerative practice.

If you are considering hosting a learning event, workshop, or rural gathering on the property, we would love to hear from you. Enquiries are welcome via https://chatsworthhouse.com.au/contact

March in the Western District has a generosity to it. The heat of summer has softened, the light sits lower and warmer across the paddocks, and the property is at its softest beauty. The 2027 long weekend in March is still available at Chatsworth House, inviting you and your guests to arrive on Friday and enjoy everything this unique property has to offer until the Monday.

For couples who want a celebration that extends beyond a single day, a long weekend at Chatsworth offers something difficult to manufacture elsewhere. Family and friends sleeping across the five on-site accommodation spaces, mornings with nowhere else to be, and the unhurried pace that comes from gathering in a place this far from the noise of a city.

The bluestone, the gardens, the Hopkins River, the Western District sky. All of it, for a weekend, yours.

If March 2027 feels right, we would love to hear from you. Enquiries are welcome at [email protected]

A fine-line illustration detailing the heart of this property was drawn in 2024 by talented local artist Isabella MacKirdy. A detailed rendering of the bluestone homestead that has stood here since the 1850s.
