Dad never needed to say much to make me feel safe.
Sometimes he just had to be there.
In the next room.
At the table.
Somewhere in the house where I knew I could find him.
His presence made ordinary days feel different.
Problems seemed smaller.
The world felt a little less uncertain.
I never realized how much comfort there was in simply knowing my Dad was nearby.
You don't always understand what someone means to your life while they're still part of your everyday world.
Sometimes you only recognize it when the room feels different without them.
Now I understand.
I didn't need Dad to fix everything.
Sometimes having him there was everything.
