Some of our favourite Hobart pitstops -

The Whaler. Roaring fire inside, and some of Hobart's best people watching outside. Located in Salamanca, perfect for a moment of respite on market day.

Grinners Dive Bar - the lads at Grinners promise tacos and booze, and that they deliver. Unpretentious, delicious food that pairs perfectly with their beer and cocktail options. Located in Midtown, a quick walk from most CBD accomodations.

Cascade Brewery Bar - A new addition to the oldest operating brewery in Australia. Partake in a tasting or enjoy a bite to eat from their beer matched menu. Located in South Hobart, a perfect pitstop on the way through to Kunanyi/Mount Wellington.

Moonah Hotel & Cellars - Based in Moonah, about 15 minutes north of Hobart. Pub classic meals, with a range of craft beers on tap. In the front bar, you'll find a handpicked selection of craft beers, wines and spirits to take home with you. Stop in to catch your breath on the way back from MONA.

An oasis of babbling water, mountain glimpses and abundant greenery, just out of Hobart 🌿

The Hobart Rivulet Track traces the path of the Hobart Rivulet from the Hobart CBD to the the foothills of kunanyi / Mount Wellington. Throughout the walk, you'll be surprised at the unfolding scenery and history.

The Rivulet was Hobart's main water source until the 1860s, and was key in the development and growth of the City. Along the trail you will catch sight of former tanneries, historical homes, the World Heritage listed Cascades Female Factory Historic Site and the famous facade of Cascade Brewery.

The track ends at Cascade Gardens, where you'll find barbecue facilities and a playground; the perfect place to recharge before heading back towards the city.

The trail is 2.7 kilometres of gentle uphill walking towards the mountain, and suitable for inexperienced walkers and families with prams.

Catch the light dancing on the calming water, listen out for the abundant birdlife and take in the wet Sclerophyll forest as you cruise up the Leven River. Spot the elusive Azure Kingfisher, or perhaps even a Sea Eagle 🦅

With a range of tours available, there is something to suit most all itineraries. Our favourite is the self catered picnic forest cruise. Bring your own lunch, and join the crew for a 3-4 hour cruise, culminating in a guided walk in the Level Park Forest Reserve 🌿

For wildlife enthusiasts, there's a chance to spot elusive Azure Kingfisher, Sea Eagle or even a platypus or two!

Calcite shawls and flowstone, sparkling crystals and glow worms ✨

Gunns Plains Cave was discovered in 1906, since then it has attracted visitors flocking to see its stunning formations and rich colours.

With an underground river running through and offering a home to crayfish, fish, eels and even platypus, it truly is a subterranean marvel.

The cave is a short drive from Ulverstone, one not to be missed.

With the salty air working it's magic and inviting you to explore the outside world, Penguin is the perfect family escape.

Nestled on the edge of the Bass Strait, its most recognisable attraction is the Big Penguin. But, dig a little deeper and there is plenty to keep everyone happy 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

🐧 Stop for a photo at the Big Penguin. When in Rome...
🌅Take a walk on the foreshore at dusk, and see if you can spot any real life Little Penguins. They are known to frequent the southern end of Penguin Beach
🏞Jump in the car and venture to Leven Canyon
🚶Stretch your legs and take a walk along the foreshore. For a great view of the town, head to the Penguin Cemetery where there's a great vantage point
