The Prime vs Zoom lens debate always seems to ruffle some feathers… “most” photographers are passionately one sided - myself included at times 🤭

When I started my business ten years ago, I bought a 24-70 f2.8 & 70-200 f2.8 - on paper I am set for any scenario right?…. WRONG! The creative in me hated the f2.8 so I sold my 70-200 while my 24-70 sat in my camera bag for years barely being used. Still to this day, I only use my 24-70 if I absolutely have to - and there isn’t enough room with a prime lens.

So why all of a sudden, do I massively regret selling my 70-200 and want to buy a new one?! And WHY am I dying to get the RF 28-70 f2.0 lens (kinda the same - but the f.2.0 makes this a beast of a lens 😅)

A new lens is a huge investment, so it doesn’t happen often. So help a gal out and give me your pros and cons!

“You weren’t even thought of… let alone born yet!!!” - I can hear it already 🤭

Since this beautiful day, Gracie has gone from one sibling… to THREE siblings (solid effort Mum & Dad 😅)

Anyone with multiple kids already knows exactly where this is headed 👀🤭

While this is such a special moment for a Mum and daughter to share - one that will be treasured forever and proudly displayed throughout the family home…

What Gracie & Harry don’t realise yet is that this wedding day will one day spark the ultimate sibling alliance:

The two kids who were invited to Mum & Dad’s wedding

The two kids who were “not even invited” 😂🤭

Cue…

If you can see it my pockets, then my camera can DEFINITELY see it in your pockets!! And it looks bulky, weird and burns my soul!

So, to all the grooms and groomsmen out there that I have tortured, annoyed and asked repeatedly for 10hrs - “please empty your pockets” - you’re welcome 😅 and I’m not sorry!

To all my Brides & bridesmaids - it’s never you - (mainly because your dresses never have pockets) and I love that!

First time venue alert…

(This either excites photographers - or terrifies them!)

Personally, I love a balance of both. Repeat venues feel “easy” - I always know where the best light is, making portraits faster but sometimes (for me) it can feel less creative and spontaneous. I LOVE rocking up to a new (for me) wedding venue and finding all the gorgeous photo options - where the light hits just right!!

10 years ago, I probably would have been a touch nervous and scoped it out before hand. But now, as a seasoned veteran in the photography world, I absolutely LOVE flying blind, winging it and letting the creative juices flow naturally.

I can’t begin to express how grateful and honoured I feel, when clients choose to come back to me, time and time again 🥹 Especially when it is more than common, and “ok” for people to have multiple photographers capture their special life milestones. I never expect a client to use me and only me as their photographer - but when they do come back - I feel so lucky and honoured!! Sometimes it might be a few years (and photographers) between catch ups, but I am always so happy and appreciative when clients return to me.

So thank you…

- those that have circled back again a few years later!
- and to those that have been ride or die NMP!
I appreciate you all 🥹

I genuinely just LOVE catching up with my clients and hearing about all the life goals they have kicked since I seen them last - while laughing about all the things no one prepares you for when you start a family.

It only feels like yesterday that I photographed Nikki & Jack’s wedding, and yet here we are taking their family photos 🥰
