A few weeks ago we had the honour of holding a Hakari at Kanteen for a very special man, Monty ❤️
During our work breaks at Kanteen, we would often wander down to the coffee shop at Waterford Plaza and end up having chats with Monty. You would often see him zipping around on his mobility scooter, stopping for a yarn with just about everyone he passed. He had a way of making people smile and brightening the day.
Life has a way of coming full circle. We never imagined that one day Monty's whānau would gather here at Kanteen to celebrate and honour his life.
For those who may not know, a Hakari is a gathering where family and friends come together after a farewell to share food, memories, love and connection.
Thank you to Monty's whānau for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful moment.
Moe mai rā Monty (rest peacefully) 🤍
As we share our partnership with Te awhina Golden Memories Funerals, we are reminded that behind every service is a story, a whānau, and a life that mattered
