One Year Ago Today - it took me 6 months to wear this jumper without feeling sick. The memory of what I was wearing when I performed CPR - why would that matter? Trauma, I guess. Still so surreal. Just your annual reminder to book in for a CPR refresher course with Wagga Wagga First Aid Training 💛

Today on the floor of my new shop I had to give CPR for 10 minutes to a gentleman who collapsed and was not breathing...it was 5 minutes after I arrived today. We also delivered 2 rounds from a defibrillator, and I recommenced CPR until the paramedics arrived.

The paramedics worked on him for 20 minutes and he was transported to hospital. The paramedic said whoever did CPR it was perfect good job. My sister transported his partner to the hospital and stayed with the lady for 2 hours. A respiratory nurse came out and updated them - he survived! And the nurse told them he would have 100% died without immediate and accurate CPR. I was doing CPR within a minute or two of him being on the ground.

So I'm a bit tired in shock, thank you to the concerned people who stopped at all the police and ambos, the lady from Myer and gentleman with the defib who assisted me - legends. As soon as I saw paramedic Mark who I have known for years I instantly felt relief. Thank you guys you are just amazing.

The reason for this post - if you have been meaning to do it: get trained now - learn CPR you never know when you will need to save someone's life.

"One of your eyebrows is higher than the other and so is one of your ears" 😂 So said the plastic surgeon this week in Sydney.

"Actually, I'll show you who your face reminds me of!" And he quickly tap tap tapped on his keyboard and swivelled the screen around to show me who.

Unfortunately for me, the consult wasn't about crooked ears, but the surgical skin graft I will need when he removes the lesion and more skin from my nose to make sure the carcinoma is all gone. As far as skin cancers go, it's a good one, apparently! But a sh*tty location.

He talked me through the process and asked if I had any questions.

"Yes. Do you really think I remind you of Princess Kate?!"

Apparently that wasn't what he meant 🤷‍♀️😂😂

Skin checks people. Please, book one now. And wear hats and sunscreen. And if you're unsure - ask for a second opinion and a biopsy. The first skin doctor casually examined it for 5 seconds and told me it was nothing at all to worry about! I went elsewhere to get a second opinion and straight away was referred for a biopsy and then plastic surgeon consult after results were confirmed.

Listen even with a circular section of miscoloured skin on my nose...at least I look like Princess Kate 💛🤪

Might get an upper bleph at the same time. Silver linings, eh?

Would you believe this is my wedding? Yep, I had Luke Chisholm photograph my wedding way back when, before he was famous!! who operates like we do - calm, fun, connection.

Ok let’s deal with the whole ‘dark’ thing. Through a wedding day, I see many types of light. Many types of scenes and the moods attached to them. Some bright and some dark. And as a wedding photographer, I choose to embrace both. Because they’re both beautiful and they’re both naturally all over the place. I am not a fan of forcing light into every situation because life is not like that at all. And more than anything I want to explore and embrace all the feels of life in my work. Yes, this is a happy day, but no story is light without dark. No life is ups without downs. Most importantly, I feed off the spaces I’m in. I embrace whatever they naturally give me. And let’s face it, if I started throwing bright flashes of light around this beautiful chapel while everyone is deep in this special moment, Kimmy would have punched me in the head. No seriously, she would have. And I would have deserved it.

Even though we are not the exact type of business this article is referring to, we think it's so well written and a really important read.

There is nothing more important that shopping local - it is supporting local people to stay employed, it keeps outstanding businesses operating.

If small local businesses close either due to large corporate dominance or people simply not shopping local and going elsewhere, businesses are going to disappear, jobs disappear, wages and super disappear, relationships are lost.

As we approach our 1st anniversary we are so incredibly grateful to the 457 people who said "I'm just going to book an appointment at Heartland first before I go elsewhere"
