I missed it. I completely missed it. Not by a day or two. I missed it by a couple of weeks. π±
It's been a year (or so) since I launched Sunday Soiree, and while I'm quietly exasperated with myself for missing my own anniversary, there is no time like the present to give it the moment it deserves.
What started as a bit of an experiment has uncovered a rather beautiful enchantment with fashion; slow fashion in particular; and the appreciation for incredible skill and craftsmanship; and how that, together with the highest quality fabric, details, texture & adornments, produces unforgettable design. Design so well crafted it enables people to find the outfit that truly reflects them for their important day.
It started with the coming together of three things;
π€ The lived experience that here, in regional Australia, choice is a bit limited. Especially when it comes to on-hand, in the 'flesh', try-on-able designer wedding fashion;
π€ That we are getting much better at understanding that we have to be kinder to the planet; an
π€ That life, and weddings in particular, are absurdly expensive.
There were so many times that, when I was explaining my idea to someone close to me, I said 'It makes so much sense to me but I don't know if it will make sense to anyone else'. Well, it seems it has made sense to quite a few others, and it has been an utter delight to find and get to know those people. I have genuinely found more joy in my days because of all those lovely people who have come to visit us, trying things on, or chat at wedding fairs. I am grateful for you.
I'm not sure how this will evolve, but I'm excited to see. We've still got a long way to go, but I'm here for it, and for all the fabulous fashion that's waiting for us. For now, there is cake with edible flowers. Could there be a better way to celebrate? Unlikely. π°
