A pondering: Is this a common thing for other celebrants?! My most recent wedding always feels like my favourite 🤩 🤷‍♀️

(Reminds me of my older brother, Will. His latest movie watched is often his favourite 🤭).

I conducted very light research and found this interesting…

Recency bias: It’s a psychological phenomenon where things that are recent have a disproportionate effect on our perception.

Either way. I love that I get to peer (with permission) through the window in to the lives and loves of all the humans. 🫶🏻

My trip to Wagga with the Olympics Unleashed program was sandwiched by my old high school + my old primary school. (I even got to ring the bell at my old primary to signal lunchtime 🫶🏻 !)

It was obvious the kids had spent time looking in to who I was (super cute) - some of their questions during the Q + A were very moving. They wanted to know more about challenges, different cultures, how many goals I’ve scored (always a disappointing answer), cancer, retirement, family (specifically the influence of my brothers).

It was a beautiful trip home. I love the Wagga community. Even got to squeeze in some walking football with my old club !

I signed up to the Olympics unleashed program to utilise sport as a vessel, to connect with kids. Sure, sport really resonates but I think the essence of community runs deeper. My career as a Matilda would not have been possible without the Wagga community. Continually humbled by that.

My msg that featured in all the schools i visited was a variation of:

‘… I encourage you to find something that you love, and when you do, aim to be the best version of yourself at it….and it’s perfectly okay if your dream changes. Mine did….”

Goal setting features in a big way too. Which I’m a big advocate for.

The program is free to access. There’s a solid group of athletes sharing their stories and I’ve provided the link in bio for a few days incase you think a school might be interested.

Bit of a different post today.

Before I was a celebrant I chased a ⚽️ with the (way back, before they were cool).
•
Today, I’m flying back to where I grew up. Wagga Wagga. Visiting numerous schools including my old primary and high school. I’m delivering a program with the called Olympics Unleashed. I will share my story and some lessons along the way.

“Even though I don’t play professionally anymore, I still take those lessons with me. Now, I’m a carpenter, I teach woodwork and I marry people as a celebrant ! You don’t just have to have one dream - you can have lots. You can fall in love with so many things.”🤭

MARRIED! 🫶🏻

A friend recommended Jordan and Mikayla to reach out. They wanted to take the simplest, most basic steps to get married.

What did we do?
•
We signed the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) in advance of yesterday morning.
•
We met for a cuppa at along with their two witnesses (Bec + Mick 👌). We said the legal stuff and signed papers. We took some cute photos and videos on our phones.
•
Legal docs are now submitted via the post and will be processed by NSW Birth’s Death’s + Marriages once received.
•
It was very simple and very lovely. Exactly what Jordan and Mikayla pictured. Enjoy the party in the New Year you two ❤️🩷
