Sometimes stepping away is exactly what you need to see things more clearly.

Being on leave and taking a holiday has given us the space to pause, reflect, dream a little bigger, and look at things from a fresh perspective. Time away can bring clarity, not only around personal choices and priorities, but also around the direction of a business, the services we offer, and the way we want to show up for our clients and community.

Over the break, we have been thinking long and hard about what comes next. We have revisited ideas, explored new possibilities, and looked at ways we can freshen up and refine some of our services.

We are feeling re-energised, inspired, and excited for what is ahead.

🎧 DJ Industry Unpopular Opinion…

At TJ Productions, we LOVE taking requests.

We love the connection it creates with the dance floor. There is something awesome about a guest lighting up because their song gets played and suddenly their whole table is up dancing.

But we also understand why some DJs don’t take requests.

As DJs, we are there to read the room, protect the energy, and respect the vibe the host is trying to create. So while we absolutely welcome requests, we do reserve the right to say no if we know a song is going to clear the dance floor.

And here’s something we really love…

A pre-wedding song suggestion list from your guests.

Yes, even on the wedding invites!

You are not going to love every single song people suggest, and that’s totally fine. Tell us which ones are a yes, which ones are a maybe, and which ones are a definite no.

But here’s the magic: when a few different people request the same tracks, that tells us something. Those songs are probably going to work!

You don’t have to hand the playlist over to your guests, but they will love you for letting them feel involved. And as DJs, we LOVE hearing what your guests actually want to dance to.

Requests don’t ruin the vibe when they’re handled properly.

They help us create it. 🎶
