It was a hot and humid summer's day when Di and Tony eloped to Magnetic Island to get married on the Nelly Bay beachfront. As it was just the two of them, Di wanted a bridal assistant to help her into the dress and into the car, so I arranged one. Tony arrived first looking very dapper and loving his hire car from Isle Hire. He was gobsmacked to see his bride looking so beautiful when she arrived. Who says you can't arrive separately and surprise your hubby to be when you elope? Bridal assistant Lauren was also the witness as was Photographer Kobie Rhodes, who captured these wonderful photos of their special day. The rain came that night with a big show of lightning in the sky. It was an unforgettable day! Happy anniversary Di and Tony!

Do you like the idea of a tying the knot in a handfasting ceremony? This is how couples made a commitment to love one another back in time when there was no money to spend on wedding garments, rings and feasts. I will be holding mini handfasting ceremonies at the Townsville Medieval & Fantasy Festival on Sunday from 11.30am. Sign up begins at 10am, and only 6 handfasting cords for sale, so don't miss out! You may bring your own, or bring rings, to make your commitment. Couples this is a non-legal ceremony to bind your love for a year and a day as is the pagan tradition. Look for me under the fig tree with the golden circle arbour. Blessed be to all who would like to share their love in a small ceremony at the festival. Cost is $100 including handfasting cord, $60 without cord.
