Some couples choose not to have an arbour, and that’s OK!

The scene can be set by the beautiful lush backdrop of the gardens in Toowoomba’s Queens Park Botanical Gardens.

Whether or not you decide on an arbour is total personal preference, the day will still be equally as beautiful. Just you both. Standing. Holding hands. Immersed in each other’s love, comfort and excitement!

No amount of wood, plinth, flower or drapery can take away from that moment. The moment you lock eyes, smile, and realise - this is it. ❤️

This is what happened at a secret elopement I officiated in April.

We had plan bu****it but we didn’t want to engage it, so we just waited till we got that break and we ran for it!!

Who does she want to marry?

The couples who don’t take themselves too seriously but are serious about getting married. They know what it takes and what their why is.

They want a relaxed ceremony and reception with lil snippets of the tradish elements. They want to laugh and love and cook bread make their own butter and then run out of time haha!

They want a beer/wine or cocktail with their family and friends coz they’re their hearts, either at home or around the campfire.

They love a good time, and they want their peeps to have that with them!

I always got “in trouble” wherever I worked for talking too much. Even at school. My teachers would say “Samantha talks too much” blah blah blah - look at me now!!!

Everyone naturally chats to me. So it’s not always my fault!

Also. It’s pretty cool to know that my name is on people marriages certificates and I’m basically writing history 🤭

As a celebrant I see and hear lots of opinions on this topic!

Equally, each couple has their own take and most will lean into an ‘unplugged’ ceremony space. Asking guests to put their phones away and be fully present during the ceremony! They’ve more than likely spent a lot on a talented photographer/videographer.

Of course, it’s completely couple dependent on which way they go. I’d hazard a guess every couple will have considered each of the pros and cons for it, and will have a firm grasp of what they want for their ceremony.

Think:

• seeing phones instead of faces when you walk down the aisle. 🫤
• not being tagged in crappy blurry uncle photos 🫣🤭
• guests are mentally somewhere else. 🫠
• seeing phones in your ceremony pictures. 😬

But….

• candid photos can sometimes be really beautiful! 🤩
• family and friends can follow along 🙌
• you may get some great videos. 👌
• your budget doesn’t allow for a photographer/videographer/content creator 🧐

Either way, the choice is yours!
