💐 Unfortunately no Mother’s Day flowers this year 😏😔
Also I just wanted to say a huge end of season Thankyou 💕🌸 🤗 to all of you for your support. This has been our biggest season yet. Fewer wild weather events (thank goodness), more planted, more learned, more grown, more flowers picked, and more seed saved than ever before.😅
We also took a big step and added a shop to our website, along with eBay, as a place to share our bulbs and seeds — which has been very exciting (and a bit of a learning curve!). Growing cut flowers is now heading into its 4th year since we started in May 2022… and I really feel like I’m getting into the swing of things. There’s already so much planted for spring, and even more ideas waiting in the wings.🌱 info on plants attached to photos 🌸
Also some of you have very kindly checked in on me asking why I’m not at the gate anymore again Thankyou, it means more than you know.🥰
For those who don’t know, my whole family has alpha-gal syndrome (mammalian meat allergy from tick bites), and mine also includes a rare fume-reactive side. So while we already avoid eating mammal products, for me even breathing in mammal-based fumes that contains the sugar molecule called alpha-gal (galactose-α-1,3-galactose) in cooking meat or dairy fumes, meat on someone’s breath, or in perfumes, face products containing mammal -derived ingredients — can trigger an allergic reaction for me….
So under doctor’s advice, I’ve had to step back from face-to-face sales at the gate, as I was being triggered around 50% of the time. David has very kindly taken over the role. My last tick bite was November last year, so I’m quietly hopeful that over time (they say 3–4 years) things may improve — but for now, I’m working around it and keeping things moving forward.
Ps… Please avoid ticks at all costs. ( if you have been bitten and want to know more just reach out 🤗 )
Anyhow Thankyou again for supporting us, buying our flowers, plants, bulbs and seeds, and being part of Our Mountain Garden 🌸 Looking ahead to next season… there’s a lot coming, and I’m so excited. Stay tuned. 🌱🌼 Carla
