Good Evening Everyone 🌸 Dahlia seeds are now available via the shop see below link .. We have more of some than others… the bees often have trouble with the high petal count so some of the varieties don’t always set a lot of seed. Also keeping some for myself 🌸 depending on how these are received… we will have enough to do another small second release after the winter solstice ( 21st June when I start mine under lights and heat ) 🌼🌸 lots more info via the shop .. 🌱🌸 Carla

Hello Everyone, hope you’re having a wonderful weekend 🌸

All Sold Thanks 💕….I’ve just popped three dozen fresh Rainbow Eggs at the gate. They’re from our beautiful girls, who are supplying a few more eggs than we need at the moment. They are raised on a quality grain mix along with a large selection of greens from the vegetable and flower gardens. Although we love eating our eggs ourselves, we have not applied for a food licence to sell them. So there perfect for pets, crafts, garden, or other creative uses, as these eggs are not licensed for food sale.

Our Breeds: Marans (Chocolate eggs)
Marbars (Mint & Pink eggs)
Cream Legbars ( not laying at the moment Blue eggs)

Date on egg = day laid.

Well I’ve just finished drying the last of the specially selected plants from my Celosia Tall Mix 🌸 (first and third photos). These have now been added to the main mix for this year’s seed collection (2nd photo). Can’t get them any fresher than that 😅

I’ve already packed up some seed packets and listed them in the shop — there’s lots more information over there for anyone interested 😊 https://our-mountain-garden.com.au/products/celosia-mix-omg-selection-seeds

This is the first of my summer crops to be listed, with plenty more coming soon. I’ve saved sooo much seed this season 😵‍💫🌱

We’ve also started drying dahlia seed pods in the dehydrator — it’s absolutely packed 🤪 I dry them at around 35°C and have used the same method for the last few years with fantastic results, especially useful with all this rain around at the moment 🤗🌼

Today I happen to share a birthday with someone who has quietly shaped so much of how I see the natural world 🌿

Happy 100th birthday to Sir David Attenborough. His documentaries have been part of my life for as long as I can remember — teaching me so much wonder, curiosity, respect for nature, and the importance of protecting it. In many ways, I feel he is the greatest elder of our time, a grandfather figure to so many of us.

Wishing him a beautiful day, and gratitude for a lifetime spent helping people see the great beauty and wonders of our planet 🥰

Some of the little wonders I’ve found here in my own garden over the years, alongside a lovely photo of Sir David Attenborough 🤗 I remember watching this one on TV.

💐 Unfortunately no Mother’s Day flowers this year 😏😔
Also I just wanted to say a huge end of season Thankyou 💕🌸 🤗 to all of you for your support. This has been our biggest season yet. Fewer wild weather events (thank goodness), more planted, more learned, more grown, more flowers picked, and more seed saved than ever before.😅

We also took a big step and added a shop to our website, along with eBay, as a place to share our bulbs and seeds — which has been very exciting (and a bit of a learning curve!). Growing cut flowers is now heading into its 4th year since we started in May 2022… and I really feel like I’m getting into the swing of things. There’s already so much planted for spring, and even more ideas waiting in the wings.🌱 info on plants attached to photos 🌸

Also some of you have very kindly checked in on me asking why I’m not at the gate anymore again Thankyou, it means more than you know.🥰

For those who don’t know, my whole family has alpha-gal syndrome (mammalian meat allergy from tick bites), and mine also includes a rare fume-reactive side. So while we already avoid eating mammal products, for me even breathing in mammal-based fumes that contains the sugar molecule called alpha-gal (galactose-α-1,3-galactose) in cooking meat or dairy fumes, meat on someone’s breath, or in perfumes, face products containing mammal -derived ingredients — can trigger an allergic reaction for me….

So under doctor’s advice, I’ve had to step back from face-to-face sales at the gate, as I was being triggered around 50% of the time. David has very kindly taken over the role. My last tick bite was November last year, so I’m quietly hopeful that over time (they say 3–4 years) things may improve — but for now, I’m working around it and keeping things moving forward.
Ps… Please avoid ticks at all costs. ( if you have been bitten and want to know more just reach out 🤗 )
Anyhow Thankyou again for supporting us, buying our flowers, plants, bulbs and seeds, and being part of Our Mountain Garden 🌸 Looking ahead to next season… there’s a lot coming, and I’m so excited. Stay tuned. 🌱🌼 Carla
