Samantha explains:

๐ŸŽค "Music has always been a way for me to communicate how I feel to the world."

That connection to music has remained at the heart of everything she does.

Known for her honesty and authenticity as an artist, Samantha records her music without relying on auto-tune or vocal correction software. She prefers to share her natural voice and genuine expression with listeners.

She says:

๐ŸŽถ "I am not the best singer, but I love to sing and be creative when I do."

Over the years, Samantha's talent and advocacy work have earned her several prestigious recognitions.

Today, we celebrate courage, resilience, and the determination to keep pursuing your dreams through Monika Kuszyล„ska from Poland ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐ŸŽค

Monika is an accomplished singer-songwriter whose story demonstrates the incredible strength of the human spirit.

Her professional music career began in 2001 when she became the lead vocalist of the popular Polish band Varius Manx. Together, they released four successful albums and built a strong following throughout Poland.

Then, in May 2006, everything changed.

Monika and her fellow band members were involved in a serious car accident that left her partially paralyzed from the waist down and dependent on a wheelchair.

For many artists, such a life-changing event might have marked the end of a career.

But Monika refused to let it become the end of her story.

After years of intensive rehabilitation, hard work, and determination, she gradually returned not only to active life but also to the stage she loved so much.

๐ŸŽต She never gave up on her dream of singing.

In 2012, Monika released her first solo album:
๐Ÿ’ฟ Ocalona ("Saved")

The album's title perfectly reflected her journey and the gratitude she felt for the opportunity to continue sharing her music with the world.

Alongside her artistic achievements, Monika has become a powerful advocate for inclusion and disability awareness.

In 2013, she received one of Poland's prestigious honors:

๐Ÿ… The Golden Cross of Merit

The award was presented by Polish President Bronisล‚aw Komorowski in recognition of her artistic work, charitable activities, and efforts to promote sports and opportunities for people with disabilities.

Monika's groundbreaking impact reached an international audience in 2015 when she represented Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song:

๐ŸŽค In The Name Of Love

By doing so, she became the first wheelchair user ever to compete in Eurovision history.

Her appearance on one of the world's biggest music stages sent a powerful message:

Disability does not limit talent, ambition, or the ability to inspire millions.

Monika's journey reminds us that life's greatest challenges can become the foundation for some of our greatest achievements.

Today we celebrate perseverance, passion, and the healing power of music through Arthur Jaja from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐ŸŽถ
Arthur's musical journey began at an early age. At just 9 years old, he was already developing his love for singing through St. Michael's Anglican Church in Aba, Nigeria.
By the age of 10, Arthur was performing on national television, singing "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night" on Nigeria Television House during a Christmas Day broadcast.
A remarkable achievement for such a young musician.
Over the years, Arthur's voice evolved from soprano to the rare and beautiful countertenor rangeโ€”a male vocal range comparable to a female contralto or mezzo-soprano.
๐ŸŽต "Classical music is my genre."
Inspired by legendary composers such as:
๐ŸŽผ George Frideric Handel
๐ŸŽผ Henry Purcell
๐ŸŽผ Ludwig van Beethoven
๐ŸŽผ Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Arthur has performed in concerts across numerous cities throughout Nigeria, sharing his love of classical music with audiences far and wide.
One of his recent highlights was performing:
๐ŸŽค "He Was Despised" from Handel's Messiah
as part of a concert organized by the Exquisite Choir of Port Harcourt.
At age 27, while studying at the University of Calabar, Arthur experienced a life-changing stroke that affected the right side of his body.
The stroke caused the loss of function in his right arm and leg and even affected the muscles in his face.
Yet Arthur refused to allow this challenge to define his future.
Through determination, singing exercises, and even chewing gum therapy, he worked to regain facial control and continues to perform today.
He says:
๐ŸŽค "I can still sing."
And that simple statement carries extraordinary power.
Alongside his musical pursuits, Arthur earned a Diploma in Public Administration and an LLB Law degree through the National Open University of Nigeria and has completed numerous management and professional development courses.
His dream remains clear:
๐ŸŒŸ To become an internationally recognized performer and share his voice with audiences around the world.
Arthur's story reminds us that setbacks do not have to become endings.
With faith, persistence, and passion, new chapters can always be written.

Today we celebrate resilience, adaptability, and a lifelong love of music through Penni Feather from Waikato, New Zealand ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽค

Penni Feather is a singer, guitarist, songwriter, vocal coach, and performer whose career has spanned rock, folk, blues, jazz, soul, Americana, theatre, and comedy.

What makes her journey even more remarkable is that since 2014, Penni has been completely deaf in one ear and lives with moderate to severe hearing loss in the other.

Music has been part of Penni's life since her teens. She performed in bands throughout New Zealand, worked as a professional musician and singing coach, toured nationally, and became a major contributor to New Zealand's theatre and performing arts community.

As a young musician, Penni was diagnosed with otosclerosis, a condition that gradually affected her hearing. Despite the challenges, she continued performing, teaching, recording, and touring for many years.

Later, when her hearing worsened, hearing aids helped, but they weren't ideal for a professional singer.

Then in 2014, Penni underwent surgery in hopes of restoring hearing in her worst ear.

Unfortunately, complications from the operation resulted in:
๐ŸŽต Complete hearing loss in her right ear
๐ŸŽต Severe tinnitus
๐ŸŽต Loss of vestibular balance function on one side

For many people, that could have marked the end of a musical career.

For Penni, it became the beginning of a new chapter.

Determined to continue performing, she found new ways to hear, feel, and connect with music. She slowly rebuilt her confidence and stamina, progressing from ten-minute performances back to full-length shows.

๐ŸŽค Penni says that hearing loss has actually deepened her appreciation of music, teaching her to listen more intentionally and discover new levels of musical nuance.

Today, audiences are often amazed to learn that the powerful singer-songwriter on stage is performing with severe hearing loss.

Penni continues to write original music, perform at festivals and house concerts, and inspire others through her determination and artistry.

Her story reminds us that while circumstances may change, passion doesn't have to disappear.

Sometimes the challenges we face can deepen our connection to what we love most.

Today we celebrate determination, creativity, and the power of never letting limitations define your future through Frank Moezelaar from Leeuwarden, Netherlands ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿฅ

Born prematurely in 1988, Frank experienced bleeding on the brain that left his left arm and leg partially paralyzed. From an early age, however, he refused to let his disability decide what he could or couldn't do.

โšฝ He played soccer.
๐Ÿ’ช He pushed himself to keep up with his peers.
๐ŸŽต And eventually, he found his true passionโ€”music.

Frank's love for drumming began when he watched a friend playing along to Metallica despite having a disability. Seeing someone overcome challenges through music made an immediate impact.

Soon afterward, Frank discovered legendary Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen, whose story showed him that disability doesn't have to stand in the way of becoming a musician.

๐Ÿฅ "Rick showed me that drumming with a disability is possible if you want it more than anything!"

Inspired, Frank began teaching himself how to groove and create rhythms using his strongest arm. Years of dedication followed as he developed his own style and technique.

At age 11, Frank fell in love with metal music, forming a band called Santeria with his best friend. Together they chased their dream of becoming a successful disabled metal band, creating unforgettable memories and performances along the way.

In 2009, Frank auditioned for the Academy of Popculture in Leeuwarden. Although his audition wasn't perfect, the faculty saw his potential and determination and welcomed him into the program.

There, under the guidance of drummer Sietse Huisman, Frank continued refining his craft and developing greater independence on the drum kit.

๐ŸŽ“ In 2015, Frank made history by becoming the first disabled student to graduate from the Academy of Popculture with a Bachelor of Music degree.

Since then, he has:
๐ŸŽต Performed with the Doom-Metal band Black No.1
๐ŸŽต Released music including the album It's Night Again
๐ŸŽต Started playing short-scale bass guitar using adaptive techniques
๐ŸŽต Created a YouTube channel to inspire musicians worldwide
๐ŸŽต Joined the rock cover band Bulletpoint

Frank is also passionate about giving back. Alongside music teacher Evert Groendijk, he works with children who have learning difficulties and disabilities, helping them discover confidence, creativity, and joy through music.

Together, they also lead a large band made up of people with disabilities, proving that music truly belongs to everyone.

Frank's story reminds us that success isn't about having perfect circumstances.

It's about determination, adapting, learning, and refusing to stop pursuing what you love.

Today we celebrate family tradition, determination, and a lifelong love of rhythm through Armando "Chico" Noriega from Rocky Point, Mexico ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ๐Ÿฅ

Living with Arthrogryposis, Armando has spent more than 14 years behind the drums, proving that passion and creativity can overcome challenges.

Music runs deep in his family. As a third-generation musician, Armando grew up surrounded by music and tried several instruments before discovering where he truly belonged.

He recalls:
๐Ÿฅ "After trying many instruments, I realized my fingers were just not cooperating. So, against my father's will, I picked up the high school drumset when I was 17 and formed my first band when I was 18."

That decision changed everything.

To adapt his playing style, Armando developed his own technique. He uses an American grip and secures the drumstick in his right hand by wrapping it in a napkin and black electrical tape, while his left hand holds the stick normally.

His approach demonstrates exactly what musicians do best:
Find a way to make the music happen.

Over the years, Armando has formally studied music, taken private lessons in Mexico City, taught at a Municipal School of Music, and continues to share his knowledge through private lessons.

Today, he performs with a Blues/Rock band and has appeared at notable events including:
๐ŸŽถ The Cervantino International Festival
๐ŸŽถ A Jazz Festival honoring his father in Rocky Point

His musical influences include some of the world's most respected musicians:
๐Ÿฅ Steve Gadd
๐Ÿฅ Harvey Mason

And some of his favorite bands are:
๐ŸŽธ Tool
๐ŸŽธ Brecker Brothers
๐ŸŽธ Toto
๐ŸŽธ Dave Matthews Band

Beyond performing, Armando is passionate about teaching and helping others discover the joy of music.

His story is a reminder that success in music isn't about having perfect circumstances.

It's about passion, persistence, and finding your own way to play.

This month, we proudly spotlight three outstanding members of our Global Family from Canada โ€” Mike Nagoda (Toronto, ON), W. Ian Walker (Hamilton, ON), and Johnnykid Carasso (Alliston, ON).

๐ŸŽธ Mike Nagoda โ€” Toronto, ON
Born with Cerebral Palsy, Mike Nagoda is a q***r and disabled blues and roots musician who has carved out a unique place in Canadian music. Unable to play guitar conventionally, Mike discovered the innovative double slide guitar technique developed by legendary Toronto bluesman Brian Cober. Under Cober's mentorship, Mike mastered the style and now proudly carries that legacy forward for a new generation.

A winner of the 2020 Toronto Blues Society Talent Search, Mike continues to push boundaries through his soulful, progressive blues and roots music. His work celebrates diversity, authenticity, and the power of telling stories that deserve to be heard.

๐ŸŽค W. Ian Walker โ€” Hamilton, ON
W. Ian Walker has transformed the challenges of ADHD into a message of hope, inspiration, and personal growth. Guided by his motto, "Music Therapy vs Medicine," Ian has built a life dedicated to music, education, and advocacy.

A graduate of McMaster University and Humber College, Ian has studied and worked alongside some of the world's most respected musicians, conductors, and vocalists. His book, Stirring My Soul to Sing: Overcoming ADHD Through Song, shares how faith, music, and perseverance helped him overcome low self-esteem, depression, and many challenges associated with ADHD.

Today, Ian continues to inspire others by showing how music can be a powerful tool for healing and personal transformation.

๐Ÿฅ Johnnykid Carasso โ€” Alliston, ON
Johnnykid Carasso is a drummer, percussionist, conga, and bongo player whose musical journey began long before the punk rock explosion of 1977. Inspired by artists such as the S*x Pistols, Bob Marley, and the rhythms of dub music, he developed a distinctive style rooted in energy and groove.

Living with Multiple Sclerosis, Johnny faces the challenge of losing strength in his left hand, but his passion for music remains as strong as ever. His determination to continue playing and find new ways to adapt reflects the resilience that defines so many members of the Can-Do Musos family.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Three unique artists.

Today, we celebrate determination, positivity, and powerful storytelling through Paul Mugambi, also known as โ€œMpofu,โ€ from Garissa, Kenya ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช๐ŸŽค

Blind for more than 16 years, Mpofu has used hip hop not only as music โ€” but as motivation.

In a genre often described as โ€œsee-rap-about-itโ€ music, Mpofu has proven that vision is not required to create powerful lyrics, meaningful messages, and real impact.

He began recording music in 2011 with one major goal:
๐Ÿ”ฅ To show that disability should never stop someone from pursuing their dreams.

Mpofu says:
๐ŸŽ™๏ธ โ€œI want to inspire people. I want someone to look at me and say, โ€˜Because of you, I didnโ€™t give up.โ€™โ€

That message sits at the center of everything he creates.

Through his music, Mpofu represents the disability community while encouraging both disabled and non-disabled audiences to rethink what ability truly means.

He believes blind people deserve the same opportunities as anyone else โ€” not sympathy, but equal chances to succeed.

Despite major challenges, including raising funds for studio recording time, Mpofu continued pushing forward with his music career and developing his album:
๐ŸŽง Never Never Ever Give Up

One of the standout songs from the project is:
๐ŸŽต โ€œMy Abilityโ€
recorded at Grandpa Records and featuring gospel artists Jackie and Val.

His growing influence even led to a television interview on Kenyaโ€™s KTN TV Morning Express in 2014, where he shared his hopes of collaborating with major East African artists including:
๐ŸŽค Avril
๐ŸŽค Professor Jay
๐ŸŽค Wanaume TMK

Mpofuโ€™s story is a reminder that:
Real vision comes from purpose, persistence, and belief in yourself.

And no obstacle can silence a determined voice.

Today, we spotlight perseverance, adaptability, and the healing power of rhythm through Shinichi Satou from Fukaya, Japan ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿฅ

At 65 years old, Shinichi continues proving that it is never too late to rediscover purpose through music.

Following a cerebral infection in 2002, Shinichi developed hemiparesis โ€” a condition causing weakness and partial paralysis on one side of the body. After his disability, he admits there was a time when he felt his life had lost direction.

But instead of giving up, he chose to try something new.

Three years ago, Shinichi began taking drum lessons, hoping music could help both mentally and physically with his condition. Even while doubting whether it was possible, he stayed determined to keep learning.

And that determination continues to drive him forward today.

Shinichi says:
๐Ÿฅ โ€œI think the drums are effective mentally for a physical disability because I feel uplifted each time I play.โ€

Using a Roland TD-4KP electronic drum kit at home and an acoustic kit during lessons, Shinichi has developed his own unique playing style and adaptations to work around his hemiparesis.

He keeps his left foot fixed on the hi-hat pedal while using his right hand and right foot to create grooves and rhythms โ€” constantly working toward his goal of playing at the same level as someone without a physical disability.

His musical inspirations come from legendary jazz and blues artists like:
๐ŸŽน Herbie Hancock
๐ŸŽน Horace Silver

Shinichiโ€™s story is a powerful reminder that music can be more than performance.

It can be therapy.
It can be motivation.
It can help rebuild confidence, joy, and purpose.

Most importantly, his journey proves that growth does not have an age limit.

Today we spotlight determination, technology, and the unstoppable power of creativity through Mario Contarino from Rome, Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŽธ

Diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at just five years old, Marioโ€™s connection to drums started early โ€” first by playing on his motherโ€™s saucepans around the house.

That passion quickly grew into a serious love for rhythm and rock music.

At 16 years old, Mario joined the Italian pop-rock band โ€œLadri di Carrozzelle,โ€ a group made up largely of musicians living with similar disabilities. Playing electronic drum pads, Mario learned rhythm reading, arrangement, and live performance while touring across Italy.

Over six years with the band, they performed more than:
๐ŸŽถ 600 concerts
๐Ÿ“บ National TV appearances
๐ŸŽค Major live events across Italy

One unforgettable highlight came in 2006 when the band performed at the famous โ€œConcerto del Primo Maggioโ€ in Romeโ€™s Piazza San Giovanni โ€” live on national television in front of thousands of people.

As Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy progressed, Mario gradually lost the physical strength needed to continue playing drums traditionally.

But music didnโ€™t leave him.

Instead, he adapted.

Using technology, computer software, and digital instruments, Mario began composing and producing instrumental rock music through his personal project: TBP.

With programs like Steinberg Cubase and virtual instrument technology, he transformed his passion into a completely new creative outlet.

TBP became a project built around emotion and expression โ€” blending styles including:
๐ŸŽธ Hard Rock
๐ŸŽน Progressive Rock
๐ŸŽถ Fusion
๐Ÿ”ฅ Blues
โšก Metal
๐ŸŽต Funk

By 2011, Mario had already created nearly 30 hard-rock instrumental reinterpretations of famous songs.

Then, in 2012, he released the debut TBP album:
๐ŸŽง Universe Of Emotions

The album was mixed by renowned Italian guitarist Giacomo Castellano and marked a major milestone in Marioโ€™s musical journey.

Marioโ€™s story is proof that when one path changes, creativity can still find another way forward.

Music is not limited to physical ability.
It lives in imagination, passion, and persistence.
