Some might find this a helpful process!
Writing out a guest list for your wedding day can be stressful 🙃
So where do we start to narrow it down? 💬 Try this...
1. Write a list of everyone you would ever consider - sit down with your partner and start writing a list of everyone you would invite to your wedding if money and space were infinite. Let's call this your 'Dream Guest List.
2. Then, go back through that list to separate your non-negotiable guests - the people you will not get married without. These are the people that will stay firmly on the list - call this the a list.
3. Now is where we take your budget and venue into consideration. When you remember that each additional guest cost $X, how many guests can you reasonably invite to your wedding? Don't beat yourself up if your budget will only allow for the A list - you already know those are the people you definitely need around you as you say 'I do'.
4. Once you know what you can and can't manage, return to your 'Dream List' and filter out the next group of people you'd love to attend your wedding. These guests will make up your 'B List'. This could include partners of those on the A list, extended family members, etc.
5. Can you comfortably invite both the A and B lists? Great! If you're ready to add more people, return to your original Dream List and pull out those extra people you'd love to invite. This could include workmates, school friends, guests your parents want to invite, and anyone you might feel obliged to include (they invited us to their wedding, for example). This is your C list.
6. Work your final number and send invites with an early RSVP date. This way you have room to invite extras from the B and C lists if some A guests can't make it.
7. And most importantly, stick your ground on this. It is YOUR wedding and there is no rule to say you have to invite anyone you don't want to - especially if you are trying to keep numbers down.
