Skylark is coming to Parramatta as part of Africa Film Fest Australia, and we encourage our Jamaican, wider Caribbean community and friends of the Caribbean to come along and support this special screening.

Skylark is a powerful documentary exploring the experiences, resilience and journeys of Black women, creating space for important stories and perspectives that deserve to be seen, heard and celebrated.

This is a wonderful opportunity to come together, support Caribbean storytelling, celebrate culture and representation, and enjoy an important piece of filmmaking.

Everyone is welcome — bring your family, friends and wider networks and come out to support the film.

Here’s a little glimpse of the joy, culture, music, food and community that came together for our Jamaican Independence Day celebrations.

A massive thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day so special. To everyone who supported, participated, performed, volunteered, worked behind the scenes and simply came out to celebrate — thank you! Your energy, generosity and love for Jamaica made the day what it was. 🇯🇲❤️

We were honoured to welcome Dr Stephanie Fletcher-Lartey, Honorary Consul-Designate for Jamaica in Australia, along with members of the Jamaican Association of Australia Executive and the NSW State Representative. Thank you for joining us and celebrating this special occasion with our community. 🇯🇲

A very special thank you also goes to all of the amazing businesses, stallholders, food vendors, performers, creatives, sponsors and community organisations who supported us. Your contribution and commitment to our community are truly appreciated. 🙏🏾

Today we celebrate 64 years of Jamaican Independence and honour the culture, resilience, creativity and spirit that make Jamaica so special. 💚💛🖤

As we celebrate, we’re excited to share a glimpse of what’s happening at Jamaican Delight’s Independence Day Celebration this Saturday!

It is with great pride and humility that I, Anna (aka Mrs Jamaican Delight) introduce myself as the newly elected President of the Jamaican Association of Australia (JAA).

I sincerely thank everyone who placed their trust and confidence in me through their vote. I am honoured by this opportunity and grateful for the chance to serve our Jamaican community.

Today, as we acknowledge Emancipation Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience and sacrifices of our ancestors, while honouring the rich culture and heritage that continue to unite us.

As President, I am committed to bringing our community closer together, strengthening our connections, and ensuring that our Jamaican identity continues to be celebrated and valued.

I look forward to working with our new executive team, our members and the wider Jamaican community across Australia as we begin this new chapter together.

🇯🇲 EXTENDED: Calling Jamaican-Owned Businesses in Sydney! 🇯🇲

We are looking for Jamaican-owned businesses, brands and entrepreneurs to be part of our Jamaican Independence Day celebrations on Saturday 8 August at the Lord Gladstone Hotel, Chippendale.

This is an opportunity to showcase your business, connect with the community and celebrate Jamaican culture, creativity and entrepreneurship.

We are seeking non-food businesses only (fashion, beauty, crafts, art, cultural products, accessories, services and more).

📅 Event: Saturday 8 August
⏰ Stallholder time: 12pm–5pm
💲 Stall fee: $100
📌 Expressions of interest extended until Sunday 26 July
