Nonie’s gluten-free mini loaves arrived 😀 and they are so cute

We are very happy to use Nonie’s range in the cafe and offer loaves for retail sale.

I love the light golden bread toasted and smothered with butter and jam - it reminds me of crumpets 🤤

It started as a special, but it’s so popular it made its way into the menu permanently - the sausage and egg roll … grass fed beef, free range egg, smokey relish, aioli and rocket on a soft milk bun, the perfect balance of luscious and also a legitimately nutritious breakfast 🤤

There’s nothing quite like a hot roast chicken drowning in homemade gravy on a day like today. Spring is wild, yesterday felt like summer was really here and now this cold and windy weather has me reaching for those warming comfort foods …

… which are of course all prepared gluten free and kept as far from anything containing gluten as we can arrange.

It was a baking kind of morning - so it was bran muffins of the apple and cinnamon variety. Cookies also seemed called for - fig & ginger cookies or salted caramel, couldn’t decide, so made both.

Oh and it’s all gluten free 😊

Nonie’s has been our favourite gluten free bread for a long time - so we are very happy serve it at Haven

When you ask for gluten free sandwiches and breakfasts it will appear on toasted light golden goodness.

Whilst the charcoal loaf is great, we feel the golden loaf pairs best with subtle flavours - like house made jams or marmalades.

We are also stocking up the freezer so this fantastic product is available to purchase by the loaf.

Currently we have the light golden and seedy brown loaves in stock.

Nonie’s don’t yet offer a gluten free burger bun … but when they do we will be lining up to try it.

Turns out parsnips are more popular than I thought … this parsnip, potato and leek soup was almost our most popular dish today.

When you have piles of the most luscious fresh strawberries it only makes sense to make jam and then to make strawberry cheesecake - at least that’s how I feel.

It’s time to jam, these beautiful strawberries have come to us through Box Divvy - they are absolutely fresh and delicious as testified by my children gobbling them up before they made it to the pot!

The final product is destined to be served with toast or croissants at Haven and available to purchase by the jar.

One thing I really love about spring and summer is all the new season fruits as they come through. Recently I made a marmalade with Cara Cara oranges - which gives the marmalade a delightful rose hue.

Ceramics studio open day August 15 on Renwick st.

Sending a shoutout for our creative neighbours who are having an open day tomorrow (August 15th)
10 am to 3 pm
143 Renwick st, Marrickville.
Turning off of Carrington Rd, head past Reverse Garbage, the studio is on the left across from Angote Timbers. If you get lost circle back to Haven and we will help.

There is so much magic happening on this junction of Carrington and Renwick, I am really enjoying discovering the artistry and creativity that is going on hidden away in its sprawling workshops.
