End of an Era
With over three decades behind the camera, the time has come for me to close one chapter and begin another, as I filmed my final wedding last Saturday.
My dad first introduced me to the basics of filming at the age of 12. What started as curiosity quickly grew into a passion, and those early moments set the path for what would eventually become my life’s work.
In 1996, I took a leap and started Exclusive Video Productions. The support of my late wife, Vicki, was a huge part of that journey. In fact, she was the one who created the name Exclusive Video Productions. Her belief gave me the confidence to take those first steps, and that foundation stayed with me throughout the years.
Weddings soon became the heart of what I did. I had the privilege of filming well over 2,000 incredible weddings. Each was unique, emotional, chaotic, and joyful.
The industry has changed dramatically, and I’ve been fortunate to evolve with it. But more than the technology, it’s the people and the stories I’ll remember most.
None of this journey would have been possible without the support of those closest to me. I want to especially thank my wife Karen and my kids Izaak, Porsha, and Phoenix, who have shown incredible patience and understanding over the years the long weekends, the late nights editing, and the many events I missed sharing with you. Your support has meant more than you probably realise.
I also want to acknowledge my brother Michael Bonello and Joe Muscat, who have been key videographers alongside me throughout this journey, as well as the many other talented videographers I’ve had the honour to work with over the years.
To mark the ending of this era, yesterday my family and I shared a special moment together watching the sunset overlooking the city I spent countless hours filming in. It felt like the perfect way to pause, reflect, and celebrate everything this journey has meant.
It’s time to step away from wedding filmmaking and focus on new goals and creative directions. The camera isn’t going anywhere I’m simply turning it toward different stories.
To every couple who invited me into their lives, every photographer and supplier I worked alongside, and everyone who supported Exclusive Video Productions over the years… thank you. Your trust and encouragement meant everything.
This isn’t goodbye to filmmaking just the beginning of the next chapter.
