Our ingenious giant screen is currently cooling its feet in Lake Zurich, easing the heat of this European summer. Rising each evening at 9.30pm (due to the later sunset), in Zurich the screen stands amid the slow dance of lights upon the lake, and in the distance, the dramatic landscape of the Alps. Last night we were stolen away by all the adorable fun of Mamma Mia. Allianz Cinema Zürich runs on Lake Zurich until 16 August.

The American summer blockbusters are coming, and from today, Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey Movie will be the first journey we embark upon. Already a “cultural event”, Nolan’s latest work is provoking lots of conversation and opinion. Which is epic in itself! We found this The New York Times episode of The Daily on Sunday to be perfect prep. Armed with 2 classics experts, each no less clever than Ulysses, the podcast explores why this 3,000 year old 12,000-line poem continues to hit home. Hot takes, smart analysis and sharp humour…and plenty of plugs for Penelope. Worth a listen for sure. Link in the bio for the full ep.
