We were at their side along the way, and on the day, so all they had to think about was being in the moment.

Have we ever mentioned the flower gods sometimes think let's have a bit of fun with this one?

Molly dreamed of a wedding with white tulips playing the starring floral role.

We swooned. We dreamed big. How hard could it be?

A September wedding in the southen highlands. Bowral's Tulip Time Festival, just down the road, starting just the week prior and running until the following month.

Truly, how hard could it be. Mother Nature had other plans.

Two weeks out our supplier told us not a chance of white tulips for Molly & Todd's wedding week.

Cue deep internal panic. We may have begged.

And so the very, very last of the white tulips available locally were held over just for us.

Five hundred & fifty stems.

Only we were five hundred & fifty short. Cue begging the wholesaler who imports them from Holland.

And we secured the very first of the imports to land from the northern season.

I share this as a tiny snippet of what goes on behind the scenes to deliver on the dream.

I have text message time stamps with our suppliers at 11:37pm and 3:45am and many more in between during those frenzied days of we-have-to- make-it-happen.

Hope in all the beauty of what we share in coming days, you see why it mattered so much to us to make Molly's floral dreams come to life.

There's no such thing as having somewhere to hide when you're designing & creating a once in a life time event.

It's painstakingly thought about repeatedly over days, weeks, months, a year & even longer.

We put it together, pull it apart, rebuild it once more, tear it apart a second time, tweak & shape & shift until it's all the couple want it to be & more.

And it's also there, in the approach we take to each & every floral piece we create.

There is no production line on our floral benches.

No let's make six at once to make it quicker.

Every arrangement is created as a one off.

Not all floral stems are born equal, emerge identically, so we take the time to create each arrangement so it is absolutely the best version of itself; each stem considered, each placement made with care & an eye for detail. The recipe may be X, Y & Z, but it needs to have a W added? We make that happen.

It means each arrangement looks just as it should, from every angle.

And when the couple shares how much they loved what we did?

It means everything.

It's one of the questions we get asked the most often - is it worth it?

For the hand calligraphied capiz shells we came up with for Alana and Ryan's seaside ccelebrationas place cards - a beautiful keepsake token for guests to take home, a little something something which added the beauty of the deep sea to the tablescape without the cliche of a sea shell in sight.

Menus printed on hand frayed linen.

Singage with words which had meaning to the couple, wafting in the ocean breeze ,to greet guests on arrival. Words which matter when one half of the couple is a beautiful writer.

Is it worth it?

We think so.

Do you?

Layers of meaning always.

Making your guests feel special from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave.

It's our thing.

When the world is your oyster.

Alana and Ryan always envisaged a celebration with their favourite people by the sea.

When Alana shared that her veil would be detailed with pearls; that Ryan's uncle was to hand craft a garland of hundreds of oyster shells, each set with a pearl, to style up hand-printed linen signage, we knew we had to bring the lustre of the deep sea beauty to their tablescapes at beautiful too.

From our mother of pearl vases, to silver and pearl napkin rings reminiscent of an elegant piece of jewellery we purchased just for Alana & Ryan, to the strands of delicate pearls we worked across the tablescape, tumbling from florals, and worked around candles, it connected the space with one of their favourite things - oysters in all their forms.

Make it real. Make it personal. Make it have meaning without any of it shouting.

It's so the dream isn' it?

A wedding perched on the coast, kissed by sea breezes as you say I do, incredible seascape backdrop, a gentle sun on a blue sky day.

Now.

We are not going to say we don't love the dream, work for the dream, do all we can to make it happen.

But.

The weather gods are not always kind.

Heat, wind, rain.

Sometimes all three at once.

The rocky, uneven ground is a killer on the dream heels - yours, & those of your guests.

When we shared this special space with Alana and Ryan (did we mention air conditioning, bar service, & 180 degree views across the bay of Balmoral) they were sold on having their I dos in a space which embraced the outdoors, with none of the realities which can turn outdoor weddings from dream to what were we thinking.

Following the I dos, champange flowed as guests enjoyed the views, the music & more.

Top tip: the guest experience, your experience, shouldn't be built around denial, that come your day, the weather gods will behave, that the uneven ground won't see you or your guests twist an ankle, & that it will be an unseasonal 38 degrees with a hot westerely blowing for added fun.

Food for thought.
