A conversation with was more than just a podcast interview — it felt like a genuine, open-hearted conversation ❤️
We spoke about my life, immigration, motherhood, struggles, rebuilding, my business, and all the emotions that come with starting over and finding your place in the world.
We also spoke about why I do my cooking classes and the beautiful people who join them. For me, it has never been only about food — it’s about connection, culture, stories, laughter, and creating a space where people feel welcome and seen.
A small moment from a much deeper and emotional conversation. Thank you Jess for creating such a warm and relaxed space where I felt comfortable sharing parts of my story so openly.

Syrian Cooking Class– Back to Our Roots

🗓️ Saturday, 18 of April
🕥 Time: 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM
📍 Impact Story Lab Sydney - Digital Storytellers (10-minute walk from Gadidigal Metro Station)

Join me this April for our very first cooking class of the year — a special gathering that takes us back to the heart of Syrian kitchens, where food is more than just a meal… It’s memory, tradition, and connection.

In this class, we’ll explore the beauty of simple, soulful cooking through one of our most beloved dishes: Zucchini Fatteh ( Fattet Makmour). A dish that brings together layers of flavour, texture, and history — from crispy bread to creamy yoghurt and fragrant toppings — each spoonful tells a story of home.

In Syria, food is a language of love, generosity, and togetherness. It’s where stories are shared, hands come together, and hearts are warmed.

Together we will:

🥰 Learn how to prepare authentic Fatteh using traditional Syrian methods
• Discover the secrets behind balancing flavours and textures
• Prepare a fresh seasonal salad
• Create a vibrant dip to complement our meal
• Finish with a simple, comforting Syrian sweet

🌟 Plus:
🥤 Welcome drink on arrival
🪑 A shared table to enjoy the meal you’ve made
📜 A recipe to take home and recreate your experience

This class is not just about cooking — it’s about reconnecting with our roots, sharing stories, and celebrating the richness of Syrian cuisine in a warm and welcoming space.

Whether you grew up with these flavours or are discovering them for the first time, you are so welcome at the table.

I can’t wait to cook with you.

Happy International Women’s Day 🤍

When I first arrived in Australia, I carried many things with me — memories of home, the love of my family, and the hope of building a new life for my children and myself. Like many migrant women, the journey was not always easy. There were moments of uncertainty, hard work, and learning how to start again from the beginning.

But along the way, I was lucky to meet incredible women. Women who supported me, encouraged me, opened doors, shared their wisdom, and believed in me even when I doubted myself.

Through my journey with Racha’s Syrian Kitchen, I have met chefs, writers, organisers, neighbours, mothers, and friends — women from different cultures and backgrounds — all strong in their own way. Each of them has added something beautiful to my story.

Today I celebrate them. The women who lift other women, who create community, who share kindness, and who remind us that we are never alone.

To all women — especially those who had to rebuild their lives far from home — your strength, courage, and resilience inspire me every day.

Happy International Women’s Day 🌸

Ramadan Kareem from Racha Syrian Kitchen 🌙✨
To our dear family, friends, and our beautiful Australian community,
Ramadan is a very special month for Muslims around the world. It is a time of fasting from sunrise to sunset, prayer, reflection, kindness, and giving to those in need. Families gather to break their fast together at sunset with a meal called iftar, sharing food, love, and gratitude.
In Syrian culture, Ramadan is filled with warm traditions — delicious dishes, sweets, lantern lights, and beautiful nights spent with loved ones. It is not only about fasting from food, but also about nourishing the soul, spreading peace, and strengthening community.
May this blessed month bring you joy, health, peace, and togetherness.
With love,
Racha Syrian Kitchen 💛

Everyone who knows me knows how much I love making Ma’amoul, and I’m so proud to create these delicate, shortbread-like cookies.

Sharing them at special celebrations like Christmas and Eid is my favourite part.

Thank you to everyone who visited me at the Rozelle Market and to everyone who ordered online—your support truly means the world.

Making Ma’amoul at Christmas feels like a beautiful cultural exchange, bringing a piece of Syria into Australian homes, sharing warmth, love, and togetherness.

In Damascus, festive seasons fill every home with the aroma of semolina, Ghee, and orange blossom water. Walk through Old Damascus, and you might even hear the gentle tok… tok… tok… of wooden molds shaping the dough—a sound that whispers of family, gatherings, and celebration.

From my kitchen to yours, I wish you a very Merry Christmas.

Thank you for supporting handmade, supporting culture, and being part of this journey with me 🤍

A taste of Damascus tradition to share with your loved ones this Christmas.
