It is totally understandable to have a budget in mind when you are planning your wedding. Here are our top tips to help you make the most of your wedding flower budget >>

✨ Work out what’s important
Decide on your absolute must-haves and then see what is left over for everything else.

Ask your florist if it’s possible to move your ceremony flowers into the reception so that you can get double the use out of them.

✨ Be flexible
Give your florist the freedom and flexibility to select what is beautiful and in season to achieve your brief/colour palette.

✨ Opt for statement pieces
You are better off putting your money into impactful statement pieces versus thinly spreading your budget across all areas of your wedding.

When budget is tight, we suggest keeping it simple with an assortment of bud vases and/or candles.

Did you know that I am also an experienced photographer and graphic designer? I have been running my own freelance business for over 8 years now and I thought it would be a bit of fun to post some of my fashion photography work as I think there are creative parallels to my floristry. You can tell by looking at both my photography and floristry work that I love the relaxed, unstructured and unconventional aesthetic of bohemian style.

In fashion photography, many elements need to come together to tell a story, create a mood and convey a brand or message. To achieve this, I love to photograph people outside and use the natural environment as inspiration to create a theme, while using fashion and styling as a way to invoke that feeling and create a story.

In a lot of ways, my floristry is no different. Instead of using fashion to create the mood, I use colours and careful curation to translate my clients unique briefs and invividual style into florals that tell a story of their own.

The MANY angles of one bouquet ✨
We create bouquets with a ‘front’ in mind to ensure it looks perfect as you walk down the isle. What you may not know is that we also have to make sure the bouquet looks amazing from EVERY angle. Your bouquet will be with you through all of the big moments on your wedding day. Your photographer will capture it for the key moments, plus all of the in-between ones where you are laughing with your new husband, watching the sunset or walking to your next location - the candid moments where you aren’t consciously thinking about holding your bouquet so that it is facing the ‘front’.

There is so much time that goes into creating each bouquet, and every ingredient is selected and placed with purpose and care to ensure it looks beautiful no matter what you are doing, on one of the most special days of your life.

I was halfway through making this bridal bouquet to post out to Mudgee for a workshop, when I found out the rest of NSW was going into lockdown. It has been killing me not to finish this dried beauty off, but I just know that over time I will come up with new ideas and get more amazing dried varieties to add. So for now I have slowly been adding to it bit by bit when it feels right, making it the most amount of time I have spent on a bouquet (and my perfectionist trait means I spend a longggg time on bouquets as it is 😂). When I’m finished she will be wildly oversized and I can’t wait for her to hopefully get her day in front of the camera soon! 🤞🏼

After having to postpone their wedding at home in the UK, Jen & Mick traveled up to Port Stephens with a group of their friends to elope! The rented an amazing beach house that backs onto the water - the perfect spot to stay ‘I do’!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Port Stephens has been their favourite place to visit since they moved to Australia and I have to agree with them seeing as it’s my home town and I’m always up there visiting my family. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Elopements are quickly becoming more and more popular during the pandemic. And you don’t have to compromise on beauty or having standout floral elements either. I’m all for travelling to somewhere breathtaking, having a statement installation or bouquet (or both) and taking some dreamy images with your favourite photographer! You can always celebrate later with your nearest and dearest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
