SHEN has been invited to
Join the Worldbuilding Competition today.
The Future Health Worldbuilding Competition is a free competition for students in Years 7 - 10.
Work solo or in a team of three to answer the question 'What might healthcare look like in the year 2040?'
Why? This competition builds real-world skills in systems thinking, ethical reasoning, and creative communication.
It invites students to lead their own learning and contribute meaningfully to the future of care.
We know that as teachers you're busy and curriculum's are full! This is one of those rare opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom, with a very light touch! This a student-led initiative that is deeply engaging and connect to real-world systems and futures.
What are students competing for?!
20 finalists will be invited to the Future Health Symposium on Monday 3rd November at Westmead Innovation Centre.
Finalists will pitch their ideas to the panel:
And, of course, compete for prizes!
Susan Pearce, Secretary NSW Health
Dan French, Deputy Secretary NSW Department of Education
Zoe Robinson, Advocate for Children and Young People
Jesse Waller, CEO & Co-Founder of InnerSteps
Peter Susanto, UNICEF Youth Ambassador
Finalists will be celebrated and are invited to join a behind-the-scenes tour of the Westmead Innovation Centre. Finalists will all receive colourful competition scrubs, pins and certificates.
Winners are offered Kindles, Virtual Room experiences and trophies + bragging rights!
Getting involved is easy.... just pass the message on to your students!
We've done the hard yards and have created video resources (https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/workforce/future/future-health-worldbuilding-comp/Pages/competition-hub.aspx) to introduce the competition, explain each Futures Thinking tool and talk about the research - megatrends!
This is an opportunity for students to explore different health professions. Think health care is just Doctors and Nurses? There are over 100 professions in the health system of NSW!
Current professionals (https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/workforce/future/future-health-worldbuilding-comp/Pages/competition-videos.aspx ) have given their time to tell students what a day-in-the-life of their profession looks like, and how they see their role changing over the next 15 years.
What do students need to do?
Submit their creative piece and 3 completed worksheets - Three Horizons, STEEPV and a persona. Instructions and examples are provided in the Canva workbook.
All resources are available on the Competition Hub. (https://greenarrow.health.nsw.gov.au/ga/click/2-15315057-6071-38491-60935-354501-d0fa76dcab-7i39b4df37)
