Those last moments of a wedding, when your friends and family are surrounding you, and you’re all singing along together; there’s a certain feeling in the air, I can’t explain it.

Everyone’s got the biggest smile on their faces (the alcohol probably helps 🙃), and for those few minutes, everyone’s problems fade away, and there is nothing but pure love in the room

This is one of those rare situations where not only is it a great request, but it also fits in perfectly to the song that’s already being played.

As a wedding DJ, I get requests during the night all the time, and as much as I wish I could play all of them…I rarely do. Here’s why 👇

It’s understandable that people want to hear their favourite song, but the reality is that their favourite song, generally speaking, isn’t the correct ‘next choice’ for the dance floor.

As a DJ, it’s easy to hyperfixate on pleasing one person or one group on the dance floor, but this rarely leads to the best outcome. I constantly remind myself about the importance of taking in to consideration the entire crowd, not just that one person who keeps requesting Taylor Swift or that random obscure metal song.

So no, I’m not a ‘no-requests’ DJ, but I am careful about making sure a song request is the right vibe in that moment. In this case, it just happened to work perfectly.
