Your event app dies on day one.
Three notifications before 9 AM. A sponsor message. A reminder for a session that already started.
Attendees don’t complain — they just turn notifications off. And your app goes dark.
The fix? 3 rules:
→ Timing: 10 minutes before a session, not an hour
→ Frequency: 3 notifications a day maximum
→ Content: “Room 4B, starts in 10 minutes” gets opened. “Session starting soon” gets ignored.
Bonus: Let attendees control their preferences. When they feel in control, they keep them on.
A well-timed notification is a concierge. A bad one is spam.
