With planning a wedding comes plenty of contracts with suppliers you choose to be apart of your day.

Make sure you read the contracts from start to finish, maybe twice to make sure you havn't missed anything. Not reading the small print can end up costing you a small fortune depending what it may be. It is not worth taking the chance especially if you are on a strict budget.

If you do not understand a part of the contract, ensure you ask those questions. You have every right to understand what it is you are paying and signing for.

There are some real perks to having your wedding at an accomodation and function venue, mainly the convienience for yourself and your guests.

Although sometimes the price of the ceremony & reception venue may be more expensive you also need to take into consideration that you or your guests do not need to worry or pay for transport to and from locations.

Sometimes these costs can add up depending on how far apart your ceremony and reception is and also how many guests you have attending.

Most venues will provide you with a group discount code for your guests to book a room direct if they wish to stay, they may also provide you and your partner a room free as part of the wedding package.

Ensure to check with the venue what they can provide and also ensure you check that the rates for your guests are the best price possible for that date. Remember mid week weddings in venues can often be cheaper and this will also reflect in the accomodation rates as weekends are generally more popular.

Wedding Cake Tip!

So a couple things to be sure to consider when choosing your cake for your special wedding day is to think about the time of year, weather and also the storage of your cake once arriving at your reception location or venue.

Also it is so important for your venue or coordinator to ensure they understand what is required and expected when it arrives. One small error on communication here can be vital to the survival of your beautiful cake creation before being cut in front of your loved ones.

For example if it is royal icing you want to ensure it is not kept in the fridge, otherwise this will ruin your beautiful looking cake when it is pulled from the fridge due to condensation as the colours bleed. If it is buttercream ensure that it has the ability to be refrigerated once arrived as the heat can soon cause all sorts of issues if starting to melt.

Make yourself a reminder to check in with your cake maker as to what instructions they will give the venue or coordinator on the day so you can also provide these details to ensure there is no miscommunication.

One thing brides and grooms don't consider when planning and budgeting their wedding is providing supplier meals on their big day.

All caterers and venues are different in what they supply and charge so ensure you keep this in consideration when booking. I would say common prices per person is between $25-$40. Key suppliers that may expect a meal would be your DJ or band, entertainers, MC if not a guest and your photographer.

Your suppliers are important in making sure your day is as perfect as possible. Even though you are paying them for a service it is also important you can supply them with a little food so they can perform to the best of their ability. They will be very thankful especially if you are in a location where they can not find a hot meal elsewhere.
