๐ Thank Yous: Smythesdale Youth Market! ๐
Wow โ what a day! We had over 600 people come through and it honestly blew me away to see the community show up to support something that was 100% youth-led.
First up, a massive thank you to our adult volunteers Carla, Stacey, Mandy, Emily, Jenny, Jeanette, Mick, David and Hannah for keeping everything running smoothly. Youโre legends.
To our youth volunteers โ Ethan, Ebony, Cooper, Georgia, Zayne, Oscar, Tom and Paige โ thank you for your ideas, energy and help on the day. And to the grade 5/6 students at Smythesdale and Scarsdale Primary Schools โ your ideas in the lead up really shaped this event. Shoutout to Benny from the GPSC's Amplify group for helping with the sound and lighting on the stage.
How good were the performances?! Big thanks to Vendetta, Bratzilla, Black Velvet and Tilda & Boo for jumping up on stage. And a huge shout out to Jade โ who designed the logo, colours and typography for the whole event. You absolutely nailed it! Special thanks also to Taylah, 17 years old, who did an incredible job with the face painting โ the kids (and adults!) absolutely loved it.
All our performers, Taylah, and Jade will be paid for their work, because youth talent and contribution deserves to be valued. ๐
To CWA - Scarsdale & their youth volunteers for hosting a biscuit decorating stall, donating their time and providing the equipment. And to Melinda, who hosted free origami making.
Thanks also to our sponsors:
Good Games Ballarat, Essential Candle Co and Avalon Nursery for donating prizes for the photo comp ๐ธ
Genki Fit for sponsoring activities and the free raffle ๐
To all the stallholders โ thank you for bringing your creations, talents, food and smiles. I hope you had as much fun as we did.
This event was funded by a Victorian Government grant, topped up by Genki Fit, and supported with a whole lot of in-kind work from the Woady Yaloak Rec Facility committee (thanks Mick, Jenny, and I guess I did a bit too).
It was such a special day, and Iโm so proud of what Golden Plains Shire's young people made happen. Canโt wait to see what they do next!
