So grateful to be a Fairley Leadership participant this year.
Thanks to my sponsor Greater Shepparton City Council.

Meet Liz!

Liz is a part of this year's Fairley Leadership Cohort, thanks to sponsorship from Greater Shepparton City Council. She recently shared some of her key learnings with us from the program...

What skills have you learnt that you think will benefit your community and workplace?
"Anyone who knows me, knows that I can talk. But now through the Fairley Leadership Program I am learning to listen. Really listen. It’s an art!"

What has been one of your favourite moments of Fairley Leadership?
"The opening retreat with guest Chris Kotur set the scene for the year. She led us to a place where we could think freely but at the same time question our current thoughts and opinions. It was a rich and thought provoking session that left me wanting more."

Applications for the 2023 program are now open! Feel like Fairley is something you'd like to apply for, or interested to learn more? Head to https://www.goulburnmurraycommunityleadership.com.au/fairley-leadership-program

GSF is seeking to support small grass roots projects that deliver big impact for our community!

Funding will assist local grass roots organisations with place-based projects as they reconnect and move forward into the COVID recovery phase. Projects will address an immediate or unmet need which, importantly, aligns with the Foundation’s vision of ‘No-one living in disadvantage in Greater Shepparton’. They may or may not be COVID focussed but will contribute to building capacity in our community.

Warning long post. Introducing my latest ‘project partner’, Steve Ayton. It was your commitment, strength and phenomenal spreadsheet skills that got us to the finish line. Washed down with plenty of laughs along the way. 😂
We agreed from the start that Goulburn River Fun Run and Shepparton Multi-Sport Weekend was all about moving forward and emerging from under the COVID cloud. Demonstrating to DHHS and Greater Shepparton City Council that with the right plans in place we can operate public safe outdoor events. There are still so many restrictions placed on events when there seems no logic around it compared to other activites. Let’s hope we can keep moving forward and the Shepparton Running Festival in August will thrive. I feel very proud of what we achieved in just over one month, and I was so inspired by the local businesses, community groups and individuals who supported our event and gave up their valuable time to assist even at 5am on Sunday morning. Thanks to everyone who took a call from me, or contacted me direct willing to help, there are too many to mention. If you played a part, big or small in our event please accept my sincere thanks. It takes many hands to make a load light. I don’t have back up singers, but I have back up sisters and I want to send a special thanks to them, they know who they are. 😍
Steve, we did a good thing...we gave runners an opportunity to run, we gave clubs a chance to come together, we shone a light on Shepparton and our beautiful lake and Goulburn River, we bought visitors to our city and gave everyone involved a chance to experience a piece of normality and a moment of celebration.
Lastly, I could not do what I do without the support of my family and in the background of this photo you will see my Michael (the big fella) who supported me at home but also marshaled all morning and brought his music along to add some atmosphere. 🎶
Thanks again, I might have a little rest now. 😊
