✨ Sometimes the most beautiful weddings are the ones nobody knows about... ✨

On Saturday, I had the absolute privilege of officiating a secret little legal ceremony at Aldinga Beach.

No guest list. No seating chart. No parking dramas. No stress.

Just two people, two witnesses, a whole lot of love, and one very important reason...

After years of building a life together, they finally got to share the same last name as the little human they created. ❤️

It wasn't about centrepieces, timelines, or matching napkins. It was about making it official in a way that felt right for them.

And those quiet moments can be just as special as the biggest celebrations.

Whether you're planning a wedding with 150 guests or a simple "just us" ceremony, there's no right or wrong way to get married. Your wedding should look like YOU.

Congratulations to this beautiful couple on finally becoming one family under the same surname. 🥂💍

What is a Welcome to Country at a Wedding?

One of the most meaningful ways to begin a wedding ceremony is with a Welcome to Country.

A Welcome to Country is performed by a Traditional Owner or Elder of the land on which the wedding is taking place. It is a beautiful and respectful way to acknowledge the continuing connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country and to welcome guests onto that land.

Every couple creates a wedding day that reflects who they are, their values, and the community around them. Including a Welcome to Country can add a powerful and heartfelt moment to your ceremony, helping everyone pause, connect, and recognise the history and significance of the place where your marriage begins.

As a celebrant, I love seeing couples incorporate meaningful traditions and cultural elements that are important to them. Whether it's a Welcome to Country, cultural rituals, family traditions, or something uniquely your own, your ceremony should tell your story.

Have you thought about including a Welcome to Country in your wedding ceremony? 💛

Your ceremony music sets the tone for the entire day.
Before a single word is spoken… before the vows, the tears, or the kiss… music is what everyone feels first. ✨

The right song can instantly transport you back to a memory, a moment, or a feeling. It becomes part of your story forever. Years later, you’ll hear that song playing somewhere unexpectedly and suddenly be right back in that moment — walking down the aisle, holding hands, promising forever. 🤍

Choosing your ceremony songs isn’t about picking what’s trendy or what everyone else uses. It’s about choosing music that feels like you.
Maybe it’s:
🎶 the song from your first road trip
🎶 the artist you scream-sing together in the car
🎶 a lyric that perfectly explains your relationship
🎶 or simply a song that gives you goosebumps every single time

From the aisle song to signing songs and your exit track — every piece helps tell your love story.

So don’t rush it.
Sit together. Listen properly. Dance in the kitchen. Reminisce. Laugh. Cry a little. Make it meaningful. 🥂

Because your wedding soundtrack becomes the background music to one of the biggest moments of your life. ✨

Unhinged bio. Read and giggle.
Marriage celebrant by trade, emotional support feral by nature.
Powered almost entirely by coffee, red wine, Mexican food and the absolute audacity.

I spend my weekends marrying loved-up humans in wineries while trying not to cry before the groom does. Somewhere between heartfelt vows and “you may now kiss,” I’m also fixing buttonholes, fluffing dresses, locating missing grandparents and reminding grown men where they left the rings.

Former mining and civil construction worker turned professional third wheel because apparently “you’d be great at talking” spiralled completely out of control.

Lives for trees, bubbly, chaotic dance floors and couples who say “we just want something chill” before producing a 47-person bridal party and a live alpaca.

Mother. Wife. Celebrant.
Running on caffeine, sarcasm and a frightening ability to organise emotionally unstable people with timelines.

Has married over 200 couples and still believes love is magic — especially after 3 wines.

Can usually be found somewhere between McLaren Vale and Port Pirie holding a microphone, a coffee, or everyone together emotionally.
