Mrs and Mrs de Groot ❤️ on the weekend. I did my first wedding back after quite a few months off with injury and family time over Christmas. I was so pleased to be asked to be involved in Emma and Ashley‘s wedding. They decided to have a private ceremony at Emma‘s grandmother’s house and everything about it was just perfect. Could this be the perfect backyard wedding?

Courtney and Josh wanted as little fuss as possible for their wedding at home with a small selection of their favourite people. They wanted to focus on the love between not only them but those around them.

They started the day by meeting by the river for a first look and a drink to relax the nerves. Courtney and I had secretly met up to do a solo intimate shoot a few months prior and she then surprised Josh with a book of the photos. His face says it all.

After a super quick ceremony with we settled in for a formality free evening on the lawn.

I love weddings like this because everybody had a role and everyone was involved in some way. From lighting the fire pit to shaking cocktails to barbecuing up dinner and decorating the cake, their guests were all over it.

Courtney and Josh, not taking these relationships for granted, had hand written a note to every person there, (myself included!) to thank them and let them know how special they are to them. Two humans who clearly value the connections they have with those around them.

Really thankful to have been invited in to witness this one.
