About Sparkle & Shine Celebrations and Me
I like to say that at the age of 56 I finally realised what I wanted to do when I grew up. Being a celebrant is my dream job, even though I came to it later in life. I was inspired by celebrants at weddings I attended; a job where people are happy to see you, always smiling, is a far cry from the office and food service jobs I’ve had in the past.
I began studying in 2016, while I was recovering from breast cancer surgery. While the course took longer than expected to complete due to legislative changes and personal issues, I finally completed the course in November 2018 and became a legally registered celebrant in February 2019. It was my absolute joy that my first wedding was for a good friend who deserves so much happiness after escaping a violent situation.
After a wedding on Australia Day 2020, just as my business was beginning to grow, the world took a left turn and we were in and out of lockdown. I was happy to perform a handful of small wedding ceremonies with five people in the couples’ loungerooms and some with a few guests in backyards. Out of this, my Short & Sweet package was born.
2022 saw me catching up on ceremonies that had been postponed during the pandemic, one of those had been deferred four times, and it was a relief for all concerned when I was finally able to declare them married.
I happily admit that my favourite ceremony so far was when I married my youngest daughter to her wife in a sweet Fairy Picnic themed wedding. I’ve also been honoured to officiate at weddings for friends, “adopted” family and former work friends.
About Me
I’m now somewhere in my early 60’s, and have been married to my long-suffering spouse for over 30 years. I’m Mum, Granny, Great Granny, Sister, Mother-in-law to a variety of biological and non-biological family members. I love gathering people as much as I enjoy time alone. Balance is everything.
I’m a solo operator of my business but I will have helpers carrying equipment and helping me to set up on the day. Usually family or close friends who have assisted me before, they are good at staying out of the way during important moments.
Success stories
I’m not sure I can pinpoint any one wedding as being more successful than the others. I have married people I’ve known since they were babies and people I met for the first time at our first wedding meeting, people I met through work, or hobbies or through friends and previous clients. A favourite ceremony was for my hairdresser: we started the day in her salon with her bridal party for a hair and makeup session and finished it at a lovely reception after a quick change of ceremony venue due to a massive downpour.
I have worked with a bride who had brain tumours and related medical issues. She told me from the start that thinking and remembering were difficult and we worked together with her husband to reassure her at every step and keep her informed at her pace.
Why choose me as your celebrant?
Every celebrant I’ve met is a lovely caring person. We have to be to do the best we can for each couple. I am only different from some in that I have a wardrobe of Cosplay outfits (and the willingness to acquire more) to wear for theme weddings. For instance, if a couple are Doctor Who fans (or Whovians, as they’re known) I could dress as a TARDIS, or a human character if preferred. I have dressed for a football themed wedding in the colours of the couples’ favourite team and as a mediaeval “rock chick” for a middle-ages themed ceremony.
I also have a small collection of wedding dresses for lending as part of my small budget Short & Sweet Packages, and wedding décor I’m happy to use to create a look for you.

Our budget priced Short & Sweet Package is ideal for couples who want a quick and easy ceremony. For $350, you get a short no-frills ceremony with either Legals Only or Legals plus personal vows.
Legals Only
A 10-minute ceremony with The Monitum, Standard Vows and certificates.
The venue will be your home/garden or a local park.
Local transport costs included.
Cost of legal certificate.
A small group of guests.
Legals Plus
All of the above plus an opportunity to say personal vows. Extra time will be included.
If your vision for your wedding ceremony is being married with your friends and family surrounding you, my Full Package for $650 is for you.
A script telling your story, with draft approval.
All phone, postal and email and printing costs.
Rehearsal
Fuel costs up to 100km return.
Cost of legal certificates
I guarantee to not book another ceremony on your day. 20% deposit required within one week of booking to secure the date.
Items required for Candle or Sand Unity Rituals.
Any extra costs such as fuel over 100km, alternative travel and accommodation costs, items for rituals other than Sand or Candle will be discussed and agreed to by you prior to the ceremony day.
