What a start to the year! Our little ones went off to kindy/daycare, I’m settling into my [almost] full-time role, and hubby is back at the firm.

Our top 5 tips for when you're planning your wedding 💐💍🌟

1. Book your key/fave vendors early
We suggest booking your key vendors 12-18 months out from your wedding date. We’re so lucky to have such a high standard of wedding vendors right here in CQ, and if you want your fave, you have to book them in early.

If you don’t have a favourite, do some research and reach out to vendors to get to know them. You want to make sure you really vibe with your vendors. After all, they’re with you anywhere from 6-12 hours on your wedding day.

2. Get your legal requirements sorted
Make sure your legal requirements are organised and submitted at the right time! Your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) can be done by your celebrant or yourself, up to 18 months before your wedding. Ensure you have an authorised celebrant or priest booked for your ceremony.

3. Always have a rainy weather backup plan
Always have a rainy weather backup option, regardless of your venue set up. This isn’t just for the ceremony and reception; it extends to photo locations, cake delivery, guest travel, and accommodation arrangements. Being prepared will save you a lot of stress on the day.

4. Create your budget and prioritise
Create your budget, and allow for your non-negotiable items and your negotiable items. The prices associated with a wedding add up very quickly. By having your list of must-haves and maybes, it will help you both stick to a budget and only cut those things that aren’t on your must-have list.

5. Book your wedding planner early
Book your wedding planner!!! We genuinely want to help you have a magical, stress-free day! Plus, there aren’t a heap of us around, so you’ll want to get in early to benefit from our assistance for as long as possible in the planning process.

I’ve had a lot of brides contact me a month or two out in total stress and panic needing help. Don’t put yourself through it! Book early and avoid the stress.

I want to take a moment to spotlight someone who has been an incredible partner and friend to Indigo Bunting Events—Maddy of Madelyn Holmes Photographics. 📸

I met Madelyn at one of her earlier weddings when she was photographing my brother's wedding. At that time, Maddy was just starting out with her business, and our professional relationship grew into a strong friendship over the years from that time. Since then, we've collaborated on so many weddings, and every time, her work has been nothing short of stunning.

Madelyn has an incredible talent for capturing those magical moments that make weddings unforgettable. 🩷 Reintroducing Indigo Bunting Events! 🩷

Oh hey! I'm Ashlee, but you can call me Ash. I'm the one that created Indigo Bunting Events. Wedding coordination and event management are my passion, when I am not working (pretty much) full time as a Marketing Manager.

My journey into event planning started with organising weddings, engagement parties, and baby showers for family and friends. I loved it so much that I decided to turn my passion into a business. Since November 2016, I've been helping people create stress-free and memorable events. There's something incredibly special about being part of events that leave a lasting impact on people's lives, and I genuinely *LOVE* that.

You might wonder where the name "Indigo Bunting" comes from. Great question. It's a nod to a beautiful little bird that migrates through Canada. I spent six months studying and traveling in Canada as I finished my university degree. The Indigo Bunting is a little reminder of that incredible time.

THROWBACK THURSDAY
Today, we're remembering our launch day—November 2016 at the CQ Wedding Expo. It's hard to believe it's been 7 years since we started this small business out of our passion for wedding planning in Central Queensland (CQ).

From the beginning, our mission has been clear: to make wedding days as stress-free as possible. We might not be as visible as the photographers, celebrants, or florists, but we're the ones making sure everything behind the scenes goes off without a hitch.

We hope that when you reflect on your wedding day, you remember how smooth it was—thanks to our team. We take the pressure off you and your loved ones, who would otherwise handle a lot of the day's tasks. By managing the stress, we allow you to truly enjoy your special day with family and friends.

Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey over the past 7 years. We're looking forward to creating more stress-free weddings with you soon! ♥️

Oh hey 👋🏻

Seems it's been some time between posts... sorry about that!!

We've been a wee bit busy with a toddler and full-time work, plus welcoming another babe to the fam.

We've still done the occasional wedding and event here and there but have not been actively taking bookings these past two years.

We're thinking of opening bookings toward the end of this year, but we will share more details later.

In the meantime, welcome back to those who have been following, a big 'ole hello to our newies and chat to you soon to our fellow vendors.
