as you have gathered by now we are super passionate about flowers and that includes after they leave our store. our flowers are always super fresh and there are a few things you can do to help prolong their life.
check your flowers daily and read on to discover the best care for your individual flower pot creation..
if you've received one of our beautifully arranged bouquets or posies, all you need to do is unwrap, re-cut the stems on an angle and place them in a sparkly clean vase (warm soapy water, and a splash of bleach and a good scrub and then a good rinse will resparkle your glass vases beautifully) filled with fresh water and a flower food sachet (follow directions on the packet carefully) if given.
there is no need to cut the tie keeping the flowers together, this will help you change the water more easily.
we suggest you repeat the above process every two days. you will notice a considerable difference in your flower life by following these instructions.
location location location..
flower positioning.. you need to be able to enjoy them but here are a couple of suggestions to keep flowers nicer for longer. choose a nice cool spot, away from direct sunlight, heating and cooling and not directly under ceiling fans.
extending the life of your flowers..
every few days, remove the flowers from the design and re-cut the stems. cut about 1-2cm from the bottom of the stem and be sure to cut the stems at an angle to allow the flowers the best chance to take up water. use a sharp knife or sharp floral cutter or scissors. care must be taken to not smash or pierce the stems, as this can destroy the water vessels in the stem and prevent water absorption. it is a good idea to remove any spent or damaged blooms at this time and also any foliage that falls below the waterline.
please clean the vase before refilling it with room-temperature water mixed with the proper amount of fresh flower food. be sure no debris is floating in the water (such as leaves and stem parts) as this could promote the growth of bacteria which can shorten a flower's life.
