💍 ELOPEMENT or FULL WEDDING?
What’s the difference? 🤍

In Australia, whether you choose an intimate elopement or a large traditional wedding, the legal requirements are exactly the same.

Both MUST include:
✔️ A registered Marriage Celebrant
✔️ A completed Notice of Intended Marriage lodged at least one month before the ceremony
✔️ Two witnesses over 18 years of age
✔️ Legal vows required under Australian law
✔️ Signing of the official marriage documents

So what makes them different?

✨ ELOPEMENT
Usually small, intimate and simple.
Often just the couple, witnesses and celebrant — sometimes with a photographer and a beautiful location.
Perfect for couples wanting a relaxed, personal and stress-free celebration.

✨ FULL WEDDING
A larger celebration with family and friends.
Often includes a formal venue, reception, bridal party, styling, music and all the traditional elements.

At the end of the day, both celebrate the same thing — two people choosing each other ❤️

There is no “right” way to get married… only the way that feels right for YOU.



It doesn’t matter which one you choose I can assist you to make your ideas come to life.

Had one of those really meaningful compliments today.
I was told I have a knack for keeping people calm in stressful moments. A wedding guest walked me to my car because he wanted to tell me how stressed the groom was before the ceremony. And he wanted to tell me that he saw how I helped his mate stay grounded while waiting for the ceremony to begin. Apparently he had been a bundle of nerves all week.
This made me realise that sometimes the most important part of what I do as a Celebrant isn’t just the big moments, but the quiet support behind the scenes. Creating a sense of calm when everything feels overwhelming… that’s something I’m really proud to bring to the day. ❤️

Love is beautiful and reminders of love can be found everywhere if we open our eyes and hearts. I discovered this example of a lovers dancing in an embrace whilst visiting the Auckland Botanical Gardens recently. I just had to share this picture.

Have I mentioned how much I love being a marriage celebrant? I know… more than once. But today my heart was reminded why in the most beautiful way.
Today I was visited by Mel and Dwayne, whose wedding I had the honour of officiating exactly 12 months ago — on the anniversary of Dwayne’s deceased mum’s birthday. Seeing them again, hearing how much this past year has meant to them, and being gifted this gorgeous rose in memory of Dwayne’s mum absolutely gave me goosebumps. 🌹
Moments like these remind me that this role is so much more than a ceremony — it’s about love, connection, and walking alongside people in deeply meaningful moments.
Thank you, Mel and Dwayne, your visit meant more to me than you’ll ever know. 💕

You have booked the venue, bought the dress on Afterpay, organised the florist, decided on the playlist - but wait …….. who is actually marrying you?? That’s right- without a Celebrant you have just planned a fantastic party ….. not a wedding!
