Sal and Shawn ❤️

A love story that began before they even knew.

I’ve known these legends for quite a few years now so I was stoked when they asked me to help them celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary with an intimate vows renewal last weekend.

Many years of ups and downs, highs and lows has brought them closer than they’d ever imagined possible. Their two beautiful daughters and two little grandchildren joined their closest crew as witnesses as they renewed their vows.

Thank you Sal and Shawn for choosing me. These types of ceremonies are so meaningful to me and it’s such an honour to be able to choose what I do with real intention.

Love you!

These two legends.

I need to give a bit of the backstory here. Kate and I first met over 20 years ago when our two boys went to daycare together. We locked eyes as the group leader was discussing some “behaviour concerns” and the rest is history. We’ve been through a lot in those 20+ years and I can’t express enough how much it meant to me to get these two married. Steve, you are an absolute King. Thank you for the smiles you bring to my friend’s face.

In Sept 2024, surrounded by those most important to them at they made it official.❤️

Remember me? Thought I should include a photo of my face just in case you forgot! It’s been a minute since I’ve been active on socials. 2024 was a great year for me. I married 25 beaut couples and as I neared the end of the year the reality of my decision to take a step back really hit home. I have four couples left on my books and I can guarantee I’m going to soak up every minute with them!

I know I have made the right decision to step back and the last year has been a really good balance for me (and my family). And if I’m honest, the industry can be pretty brutal at times so it’s been nice to have been able to remove myself from a lot of it.

I’ve had a lot of people ask if I’m still doing weddings. Short answer is yes. Long answer is, for friends and family, the occasional favour and elopements close to home. So don’t be afraid to reach out and ask!

I really hope 2025 is amazing for you all and I’ll still be here cheering for those I love from the sidelines.

My first wedding at Buderim Village Park - and what a gorgeous pair of souls to pop my cherry! Ben and Jennie had their closest crew present as they tied the knot. We paused for a few minutes while Mother Nature sorted herself out and managed to have a rain free ceremony. And check out those florals from Platinum Florals... so much colour!

After much contemplation and a whirlwind of emotions, the time has come for me to make a significant announcement. It is with a mix of gratitude and nostalgia that I share this news — I've decided to hang up my microphone and bid farewell to weddings.

The past ten years have been an extraordinary journey filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Each ceremony has been a unique chapter, and I am profoundly grateful to have shared these special occasions with such incredible individuals. I hope you all understand what an impact you've all had on me.

Some Fun Stats to Reflect On:
On the 4th of March 2014, I embarked on this celebrant adventure, and each and every one of you has made my time as a celebrant the best I could ever hope for.

Since that day, I've had the honour of officiating 506 wedding ceremonies all over south-east Queensland.

The diversity of love stories, the celebrations, and the authentic connections formed have been the heartbeat of this journey.

Heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you, To the couples who chose me to be the one to lead their special day, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your love story.

To my fellow celebrants, wedding vendors, and creatives, working alongside you has been an absolute delight. Your collaboration, professionalism, and shared passion for creating magical moments have enriched my experience beyond measure. Those of you in my circle, you know who you are and I will be forever thankful for our friendship.

As I step away from the microphone, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey. Your support, encouragement, and the love you've shared have made this chapter truly remarkable.

My last wedding will be in June 2025 and my books are now officially closed. To the 35 couples I have yet to marry between now and then, as I have already told you, I promise you every ounce of my heart and soul for your weddings.

Here's to the beautiful ceremonies, the love stories, and the countless moments that have shaped the celebrant I am today. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives.

With heartfelt thanks and fond memories,

Shelley x
